We had the 1st stage of the Tour de France pass near where I live so I thought I would share a couple of pics. I'm not happy with some of them but I was limited to where I could stand as other people kept getting in my way.:

The leaders of the stage:

Gives me a chance to improve:thumbsup2

I think the pics look good... and understand when people move into the way.. had that happen at WDW for a naturalization ceremony they just had. Im jealous! would love to see a stage of the Tour in person! Can you tell me why it started in England? I know in past they have gone into other countries (Spain, Belguim, Germany) but I was surprised that they went over the Channel. Thanks for info and for sharing!

Thanks for the comments, i'm not sure how we got to start the tour. I know every so many years it starts in other countries like Belgium. I think London/Kent got lucky with their bid for it, not that i'm complaining:goodvibes

I'll share some more pics later once I have sorted them:thumbsup2

I was surprised that they went over the Channel.

This was the third time. The Tour was in the UK in 1974 and again in 1994.
The Tour has also started in Dublin

Something in the back of my mind tells me that to celebrate the opening of the 'Chunnel', they actually rode into England through the Channel Tunnel service road in 1994. (The Channel Tunnel is actually three tunnels, a rail tunnel in each direction, plus a service tunnel in the middle for maintenance & emergency vehicles).

I was surprised that they went over the Channel.

so once they went under the Channel, not over the Channel

Very cool... thanks! From what Tennisfan said too, the countries nearby can put in a bid to participate? I was surprised when I turned it on and didnt see Paris, but saw sights I recognized to be London. I didnt have the sound up at that time so was a little confused.:goodvibes

Thanks again!
