I know that the line to the ride runs through the castle, but I'm wondering if there is a separate line or entrance for people who only want to see the castle without riding, or do you just have to get in the line for the ride to tour the castle, then take a "chicken" exit? I think I remember reading that here, but I can't find the thread now. Has anyone done this? If there is a separate line, is it clearly marked, or do you need to ask an attendant to show you to it? Thanks for any insight!

From all the reading I've done it seems you're in the regular line w/ everyone else and then take the chicken exit.

You will go through with the regular line and then right before the sorting hat there is the child swap area that you can go through that door and then out without getting on the ride. They don't have a line just for those wanting to view the castle

Thanks for the replies, we'll just join the line and exit at the child swap area.

A few weeks ago, people were commenting that they were allowed to walk through just to tour. I would ask someone at the front of the ride before you get in line.

When I was there 2nd week of July there was a separate line for those just wanting to tour the castle. We didnt know about it at the time, but when the TM stopped us because of bags and we explained we weren't riding, just touring the line, he led us to a staircase and sent us right up into an empty line that ran beside the regular and single lines. We were able to avoid the greenhouse and move freely to stop and take pictures ect without having to interfere with those wanting to ride. Once we reached the loading area we were just sent down the exit into Filches, by the child swap area.

Like I said, we had no idea it existed until we asked the TM where he was sending us. He said it was the "Castle Tour line" so they do offer it. I would just ask a TM about it when you get into the castle where the lockers are.
