Tough question about Magical Express and return trip to airport

Hi everyone !

I've been looking for an answer to my question on this board but didn't find anything.

I'm going to Pop Century resort from august 31th september 5th. (flying august 31th from Burlington,vt).
I'm going to Tampa from sept. 5th to 9th.

I would like to take the Magical Express to get me back to the airport on september 5th but without taking a plane. I'm planning to rent a car at the Orlando airport (not the car care center, no one way car rental for me thanks you) on sept. 5th and return it on sept.9th. to take my flight back to Burlington.

Is it possible to take the Magical Express without taking a flight ?

if you really don't want to rent a car on property, you can do this. just find a flight that leaves 3 hours after you want to be picked up by DME and give them that information.

What bradk is saying will work.

But an even simpler way is to tell the DME reservationist the approximate time you want to be picked up at your resort. Just explain that you're renting a car at the airport (or staying at the Hyatt or meeting friends or whatever). That's not cheating. DME will take you back to the airport at the end of your WDW stay, even if you're not flying out.

I did this when I wanted to take a very late motorcoach back to the airport to stay at a hotel there before a morning flight. I asked for an 10:00 p.m. motorcoach pickup. I didn't have to provide a fictitious 1:00 a.m. flight (if there even are any 1:00 a.m. flights). No problem. The DME reservationist only warned me not to miss my pickup, because there probably wouldn't be a later one.

I've done exactly that several times. One time I got a cheaper rate renting from MCO, rather than from the Dolphin. In August we are taking DME back to MCO and then renting a car and driving to Port Canaveral. You'll have no problems at all doing it.
Are you flying out of Tampa back to Burlington? Or driving back to MCO? We usually fly out of Tampa, returning the car there.

I was going to ask this same question because I am going to do the same thing. I need to rent a car for the last 3 days of our vacation so I will take DME back to the airport and pick up the car.

No, I'm not flying back from Tampa but from Orlando. I wanted to rent a car at MCO because I can get a really cheap rental car with priceline but it must be returned at the location where it was rented.
