I have an old Navy buddy that is a DVC member and will be staying at Bay Lake Tower during my upcoming trip. He has invited me to The Top of The World Lounge one night to catch up and tell old sea stories. I would love to do that but I will be traveling with my 6 year old son, it's just the two of us. Is the lounge kid friendly or do I need to arrange a meeting elsewhere?

While you can bring kids there they will likely get bored pretty quickly. Where are you staying? I'm wondering if you might drop your DS off at one of the kids clubs? My daughter used to love going to them.

You can also just come prepared with activities to keep him busy so you can visit with your buddy.

Have a great trip!

I'm staying at All Star Movies. I haven't heard about the kids clubs, I'll have to look into that. If he ends up coming with me I'll bring a few things to occupy him. If there is WiFi access he would probably be entertained with Netflix on the iPad. Thanks for the tip on the kids club.

Take your son to the Neverland Club at the Poly. He will most likely love it and not want to leave. And that's right on the monorail so easy pick up and drop off if you park at the TTC or if you take the bus from the All Stars to MK.

can anybody get into the totwl? Doesn't the OP need to be on their friends ressie to get in? :)

He doesn't need to be on his friends ressie. He can go up with his friend if his friend meets him downstairs, shows his member card and KTTW and goes up with him.

Be sure to make a ressie at the Neverland Club! It's a really popular and fun spot. If you have a car and are using the kids club it wil be fine to park there and take the monorail to the TOTW.

the kids club can get expensive if you are on a limited budget.
there is wfi access - seem enough laptops and ipad up there.

beaware that around the deck is a big cement wall - so he won't be able to see much of the fireworks.

Why would he have a hard time seeing the fireworks? You could just walk out to the deck area and look at the.

We had to show a KTTW card for each person in our party last December. In fact we had to go back to our room to get DW's card.

I think the intimation is that the wall is too high for a six year old to see over.

I don't think it was, unless the kid is really short.

My youngest loved TOTWL, but he's 11. Sat and had a drink then went out and watched the fireworks. We had to take him up there every night we were in the room for Wishes.

This is what several members have stated. OP, you might not be allowed up to the TOTWL if you don't have a KTTW that says you are staying with the member at BLT.

In the past my buddy has been able to get another guest into TOTWL. I have no doubt he is aware of the process for getting me in. If things have changed and I can't get in, no big deal, we will find an alternate spot to catch up. We're ex-Navy, we are used to overcoming change.

tbinik that wall is at least 44" high - now this is a guess - never remember to bring up a ruler to measure the thing.

it is not a small wall by any means - and the fireworks start below the wall.

I was not with them when they went, but my wife took out DDs (5, 8, and 10) to the lounge and the kids were VERY disappointed by the wall blocking their view of the MK. It was not yet fireworks time, so perhaps it's ok for those that rise into the sky. But mom was not letting them climb up the side of the wall at all (you know how moms can be), and so they could not get a view of the castle.

There has been a history of wall/kid issues. The wall originally had a flat top and parents would put the kids on top of it. Disney put up a rope about 4 feet in front of the wall and had a guard posted to monitor the wall. They soon added a pointed top to the wall to keep people off of it.

Disney has now transfered the area to the DVC owners so the liability is now ours should someone get hurt.

We went to TOWL last year and DGSs age 6 and 9 were able to see fireworks by standing on benches that are back from the wall next to the building. We did get there early so were able to get a good spot that way. We had drinks first in the lounge and then took them outside to see the fireworks.
