Hi all - I'm just a few weeks away from my first trip on points!! I am a SSR member staying at AKV. I know I read on here that they were allowing access to top of the world lounge for all DVC members during the summer - does anyone know if this is still going on? We'd potentially like to try and see it on our last night.

Thanks!

It's been extended thru 12/29. From the Member website:
Top of the World Lounge perk extended through Dec. 29!
The popularity of a special perk originally slated to end on Aug. 25 has prompted its extension! From now through Dec. 29, 2012, Disney Vacation Club® Members staying at any Disney-owned-and-operated hotel at the Walt Disney World® Resort (whether they booked with vacation points or cash) may enjoy complimentary access to one of the vacation kingdom's most exclusive spaces: the Top of the World Lounge atop Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort.

Note that Members traveling from other resorts must use Walt Disney World Transportation, as parking will be unavailable to anyone not staying at Bay Lake Tower or Disney's Contemporary Resort. Upon arrival, Members must walk to the Bay Lake Tower main lobby entrance on the ground floor (the typically locked front door will be unlocked during this time, or a Cast Member will be at the door to assist) and check in at the Top of the World Lounge desk in the lobby.

The sleekly designed bar and lounge, typically available only to Members staying at Bay Lake Tower, operates from 5 p.m.-midnight daily and offers spectacular rooftop viewing of Wishes™ – the Magic Kingdom® fireworks spectacular – complete with the show's stirring musical soundtrack. The ability to access the lounge has been a frequent request from Members staying at other Walt Disney World Resorts since Bay Lake Tower opened in 2009, and Disney Vacation Club is thrilled to make that "wish" come true during this extended period.

This perk is available exclusively to Members and those in their traveling party who are staying on that Member's reservation. At least one Member in the traveling party must accompany the group and present his or her current Key to the World card displaying a Disney Vacation Club Membership notation in order to gain admission to the lounge. If the Member's Key to the World card doesn't display a Membership notation, a Disney Vacation Club Member ID is required in addition to the Key to the World card to verify Membership.

This special Top of the World Lounge access is available on a first-come, first-served basis until the lounge reaches capacity. As the lounge is particularly popular during the Magic Kingdom fireworks, arriving as early as possible will give Members the best chance of gaining admission.

One important thing to note in the message is that you cannot park at the CR or BLT. You'll need to take a cab or take a bus to the MK and walk over or monorail over or take a bus from a theme park or DTD to the CR.

I suppose you could park at the MK parking lot and take the monorail from the TTC over to the CR.

Also your kttw card will not open the walkway doors, you will need to enter the blt lobby and see the attendant to lead you too the elevator(they have to let everyone up)

Thanks for the advice! We're having dinner at Kona so we'll be taking the monorail over.

I am hoping I can park there, with my handicapped placard for my adult son. It is very difficult to get around on the buses at WDW with him. (his chair does not fold up that well, and it is very heavy for me to try and get onto a bus, it will just be me and him).

If not, I will just go back to my resort.

They have basically noted you cannot park at BLT or CR to visit the lounge. But if you were dining there that evening and extended your stay to visit the lounge, you should be able to park there. As long as you don't exceed three hours.

Does anyone know if the lounge typically fills up? We will be traveling with a party of 9 and would love to do this one evening.

We went up there a few weeks ago. Party of 10. arrived at about 9:30PM, inside was full and lost of standing room outside to watch the fireworks. About 15 minutes before Wishes people started to come outside.

Arrive between 15 minutes to half hour before if you are just planning on watching the fireworks and you should be ok.

Now about watching Wishes from ToTW .... I was disappointed, they are best watched from the ground and a lot of the magic is lost from viewing up there. If that is the only reason you are visiting ToTW, skip it.

When I went in late July a KTTW card was not needed to enter the walkway doors. So if you are coming by monorail try these doors before walking to BLT lobby from CR.

Good to know. Thanks for sharing. Maybe we'll skip it.

If it's the only time you're going to see Wishes, see it from the park. But if you've seen it before, it's an interesting angle on the show.

Yay! I am glad they extended this! We are doing a Food and Wine trip in October and don't plan on going to any parks other than Epcot and I was hoping we could maybe go to the lounge to watch Wishes one night.

We plan to go in September if we have time maybe to watch the MNSSH, since we are not buying tickets to the party.
I am a little excited to see the lounge open and having a drink.

Well, that is a good idea too. We would not be at the Lounge long at all, if we went, maybe an hour, tops. I understand the rule about parking, I guess it could lead to lots of issues if lots of guests drove just to use the Lounge. It is just so hard when it is just me and my adult special needs son. I am not lazy myself! I can walk all day with no problems, and can get on and off the busses myself all day long. I just can barely get that 40 pound chair on and off a bus by myself, all while trying to hang onto my son (likes to wander). If the bus is crowded, it is a total disaster. I drive to the parks most of the time, and that works fine.

I am just glad they relaxed the rules a bit, I wish they would also include DVC members that are on cash nights at BLT.

This may have already been answered somewhere else, but do they accept the Tables in Wonderland card at the TOTWL?
