Totally Last Minute Spring Fling! No DDP, Tons Of Pics! COMPLETE!

Love your review of R&C, we have never been there but the fried pickle just put it on my husbands "we have got to eat there in Oct" list!

I used to live in Woolwich Township, so I know exactly where Mullica Hill is. Still only about 20 minutes from me now! So excited!!

Excellent! Hope you enjoy it! :goodvibes

I remember reading about your husband's pickle obsession in one of your DRs! :rotfl: He is gonna love it!!!! I didn't try Rose & Crown until last year and now I'm hooked. I've had great food and great service every time! Hope you enjoy it on your October trip! :goodvibes

I'm really enjoying your reveiw. I live in NJ also and I have heard it takes 22 hours to drive to WDW. Maybe it depends upon when you leave. Did you leave late at night. 15 hours is still tough but better then 22. We usually fly but with the price of airfares we may want to drive at some point.

After our delicious lunch we started to make our way around World Showcase. I went into this day wanting a treat from the French bakery or the Caramel shop in Germany, but I was kind of hot and full and those didn't sound appetizing at that exact moment. Then we passed the Fife & Drum in the America section.

I recalled my Dis knowledge :rotfl:and double checked the menu and then I knew just what I wanted.

The American Dream!

This really hit the spot! I love the frozen drinks in the parks anyway, but adding the ice cream in the middle made it extra tasty. Perfect treat for walking around WS in the heat!

I had sucked this down by the time we reached Mexico. After a ride on the Gran Fiesta Tour (which I weirdly love) we decided to leave Epcot and head back to POFQ. Between the big lunch and the long drive poor hubby felt like he had been hit with a tranquilizer dart! :rotfl: It's time to nap!

Up next... A frantic search for a late night dinner!

Are you ready to view the most awesome, fatty food ever created?!?! Have I overhyped this enough?!?! :rotfl: Get ready for... CHEESESTEAK STUFFED PRETZELS!!!!

The delicious, salty outside of the pretzel.

The cheesy inside of the pretzel.

SO GOOD!!! We get these from an Amish food market 30 minutes away from our house. They are the best! If you have a place near you that sells these, I highly recommend them! These bad boys are only $2 and change. An absolute bargin if I do say so myself. Disney could probably sell these in the park for $6.99 a piece! I can see the stuffed pretzel stand now...

I also had a Pepperoni and Cheese Stuffed Pretzel.

P1000522.jpg

Yum!!! I ate mine pretty early into the drive since I never ate lunch that day, but hubby ate his later in the night. He also had a Bacon, Chicken, Ranch Stuffed Pretzel, but I was sleeping when he ate it so I didn't get a pic of the inside of his pretzel. The great thing about these (and one of the main reasons I wanted them for the drive) is that they keep really well without having to reheat them. I would much rather have these than have to make a stop at a fast food place on the way.

Fueled by delicious treats, we're on the move! Next stop... Disney World!
I've seen the pepperoni and cheese but not the steak or chicken pretzels. I don't really care for pepperoni but the others sound delicious. Did you get these in Williamstown or Mantua or maybe anothe Amish market in the area? Sorry just saw you answered that question a few posts ago. I know where I am going on Thursday.

We are doing the drive in a couple weeks. I always dread it, more the ride home then the one there. My DH likes to drive straight through, only stopping at a McDonald's with clean bathrooms and a gas station out front.

Happy bday to your DH and congratulations on his graduation!! What a great way to celebrate. :goodvibes I can only dream of booking a last minute trip and not obsessing over every detail :hyper: We've never tried R&C but that burger looks delish. Sooo looking forward to more of your review - especially WPE. :flower3:

Thanks for joining in! :goodvibes We're in a great spot in NJ to leave from. We're right on the other side of the Delaware Memorial Bridge, so we're minutes away from being able to jump on I-95. That might be why it's a little bit quicker for us. Plus, we make very few stops. When hubby was on night shift years ago we used to leave at 10pm since he was used to being up all night, but now we leave at 6:30pm and the timing is usually great. We miss night time rush hour in Baltimore/D.C. and we miss morning rush hour in Jacksonville. The price of airfare is what makes us drive for sure. Plus hubby is terrified to fly and so he drives me crazy on a plane! :rotfl:

I am in! You all are such a cute couple! Can't wait to read more!!!!

Thank you so much! Hopefully I should get a couple more updates in today. :goodvibes

Loving the two of you. Looking forward to more of this!

Aww thank you! Lots more to come! :)

So glad you're going to check out the Amish Market! You won't be sorry! They have a lot of other kinds too. Hubby loves the sausage, Egg and Cheese Pretzel!

That ride is brutal. You're absolutely right about the drive home being worse. My hubby is the same way! We stop 3 times and it's gas, food and bathrooms all in one single stop each time. Not sure which way you're going when you drive down in a few weeks, but just to let you know, I-95 was really bad in the Richmond area. They're doing major road work and it was down to one lane in both directions. Coming home we hit that area around midnight, so there weren't many cars on the road and it only stopped us up for a few minutes, but going down we hit it bad. Just a heads up to maybe try and avoid that area if you can.

What fun!!!!

It was a blast! Hated to leave!

Thank you so much! He had a fantastic time! It was very very weird not to obsessively plan for months on end. :rotfl: My packing list is usually very thorough, but this time I had so little time to pack and plan that I ended up leaving all my makeup, my flat iron and all my shorts at home. I was hot in my jeans all trip, but at least it saved me time getting ready in the morning with no makeup or hair products! :lmao: R&C was great! Really starting to love it there. There are A LOT of WPE pics to come. We ate there 4 times this trip and I still could have gone a few more. You definitely have to try it on your next trip!

After our brief visit to Epcot we headed back to POFQ. On our way back to the room we decided to stop in the food court and check out what they had to offer. Everything sounded delicious! Fried chicken, Muffaletta sandwich, Gumbo. They all sounded like winners. We weren't hungry at all so we went back to the room and PASSED OUT! Man, we were tired!

I never even had a chance to set an alarm since I fell asleep so quickly, so we ended up sleeping until about 7pm. We got up and got ready and headed to the bus stop to make our way back to Epcot. I wanted to get some more treats in WS for dinner, but we ended up waiting a really long time for a bus and then the bus went over to Riverside to pick people up and we didn't get to Epcot until 9pm. Shoot! I figured it was probably too late to get anything in WS, so we went into The Land and they were already done serving dinner as well. Only Grab and Go sandwiches, drinks and bakery items. I wanted a real dinner and so did hubby.

We ended up riding Soarin', Living With The Land and Spaceship Earth and then we figured we had better head back to the hotel if we planned on getting any kind of a real dinner at this point. I wasn't sure what time the food court was open until, so I was hoping we would still make it in time for food.

We arrived back at POFQ around 11pm and fortunatly they were still open, but with a very limited menu. All the options we were drooling over earlier were gone for the night. Hubby didn't want another burger and he didn't want pizza, so he had very few other options. He made his choice and had me order while he ran back to the room for our refillable mugs.

I got the Chicken Alfredo.

P1000588.jpg

This was actually really good! I was a little worried because it was the last of this left in a dish under a heating lamp, but it was still fresh and tasty and the girl gave me a big portion since she probably wanted to get rid of what was left in the dish. The bread stick was good too! It also came with a small side salad if you were on the DDP, but since I was paying OOP I had the choice to get it without the salad and pay less money. I opted for no salad since it didn't look like anything too spectacular.

Hubby decided on the Meatball Sandwich with a side of Pasta Salad

P1000589.jpg

I have no idea why he got the Pasta Salad. He hates Pasta Salad. He could have had chips instead, but for some reason he chose this. I actually ended up eating some of it and it was pretty good! It had chickpeas in it, which I love, so I was a fan of this particular Pasta Salad. He liked his sandwich, but he had his heart set on the Fried Chicken and Ribs he saw earlier, so he was kinda disappointed.

We sat there eating our dinner while Elliot Dyson played next door at the Scat Cat Club, which was really very enjoyable. He was fantastic! It set a very nice atmosphere for our meal.

On a dining plan note, I was already so pleased we decided against it this trip. We didn't need a drink with this meal since we had refillable mugs (which we get every trip regardless) and neither of us wanted dessert, so this would have been a wasteful CS credit for us on DDP. At our R&C lunch that day we didn't want dessert, we got cheaper entrees and I had water to drink instead of a soda, so that would have been a wasted credit too. I need to sit down and do the math from this trip to see how it worked out price wise, but I was definitely happy we skipped the DDP this trip.

Now, it's time for a good night's sleep since we're getting up early for Animal Kingdom the next day!

Up next... Breakfast at Sassagoula and a special surprise at the bus stop!

OMG! Subbing because we are going to lots of the same places.

I had no idea that they had fried pickles there. My family loves them. One of our favorites at home. LOL!! Now hubby wants to eat there! LOL!!

I love all of the pics. The stuffed pretzels look interesting.

Can't wait to read more.

:rolleyes1

Oh my gosh I'm so excited to read your review!! We are doing a split stay @ AOA & SSR. [our 1st ever DELUXE!!!!!] If you can add some pics or comments on SSR & TC that would be great! Tell ur DH HBD & congrats on graduation! Both my DH & I are 30this year:sad2 but somehow we feel much younger. IDK
why??:earsboy::earsgirl:

We are not really sure if we'll get the DDP either this trip,so ur info will be helpful.

Oh & those stuffed pretzels look ridiculous. Yum.

Hi there! Thanks for joining in! That fried pickle was soooo good. It's worth going to R&C for that alone!

First Deluxe, that's exciting! AoA should be great too! I like SSR quite a bit. Not my fav, but I do like it there. I'll definitely throw in some pics for you along the way! :goodvibes We actually didn't end up doing TC. I was very disappointed in their menu this trip:sad2:

I will definitely pass on the good wishes to hubby! Thanks! I turn 30 next year, so it will be my turn to be depressed soon enough. Very much with you on the feeling much younger though! It's fun to be a big kid!

Very happy to not have the DDP this trip. It just doesn't fit our touring style anymore unfortunatly. I really thought about getting APs for this trip as well as a TiW card since I'm sure we'll be back again within the next year, but I just didn't feel like putting out the money for APs right now. Hopefully we'll have TiW for our next trip.

OMG, I am in Cheesesteak-Stuffed Pretzel heaven :cloud9:

Wish we had something like that here in the UK. I guess I will just have to stay subscribed to this thread and just pop back ever now and then to drool.

I am really enjoying your reviews so far. My DS (who is 9) is reading/drooling along with me and has declared that he is "definitely having one of those American Dream things in August" :thumbsup2

We really love the food court at POFQ and, quite often head there for lunch or dinner if we are staying at OKW. The Jambalaya there is awesome.

Please can we have some more?

We were up bright and early for our second day at POFQ! We didn't have Park Hopper tickets this trip, so I had planned our days accordingly and today we are headed to Animal Kingdom.

Here I am on the walk to Sassagoula.

P1000591.jpg

I am usually more than happy to grab some sort of bakery treat for breakfast, but hubby enjoys a savory breakfast over a sweet one, so we decided to grab breakfast at the food court before we left for AK. That way there's something to please both of us.

P1000745.jpg

This food court is so small compared to the ones at the value resorts, so I expected to have a hard time finding a seat, but it was super easy to find a table. Since the resort is so small I guess the size of the food court was able to be a lot cozier than I'm used to. Here is a shot of the inside of Sassagoula.
P1000602.jpg

Hubby went for a savory option of course. He chose the Croissant Breakfast Sandwich.
P1000599.jpg

He liked it, but said the one in Main Street Bakery is better.

I opted for the Cheese Danish.

P1000600.jpg

Yum! Disney makes a fantastic cheese danish. I didn't get nearly enough of these on this trip.

Didn't feel like messing with our refillable mugs this morning so we split an apple juice.
P1000601.jpg

Satisfied with our breakfast we headed out to the bus stop and when we arrived there were maybe a dozen other people waiting along with a CM. He asked who was going to AK and we all raised our hands. He then said that he was going to give each of us a FP good for any ride in the park that day... well, make that 2 FPs each! What luck! He told us not to tell the other guests when they came to the bus stop and he went around to each group of us to fill out FP certificates for us.
P1000604.jpg

That has never happened to me before! Very exciting start to the day!

Up next... Flame Tree BBQ!

Great start to your day at AK. We had one of those 'special' FPs given to us at Le Cellier a couple of years ago. It really brightens your day, doesn't it?

Loved the look of that breakfast croissant - yum.

Those stuffed pretzels are even better than they look! It's a shame you don't have anything like that where you are.

Your son is going to love the American Dream! Perfect on a hot day!

Sadly I never got to try the jambalaya at POFQ. Something to look forward to on another trip!

That's awesome that you've gotten one of those FPs before! Disney knows how to make a person's day! :cool1:

Oh, and I know you had asked to let you know about the Tavern Fried Cheese at LTT before I left, so I just wanted to let you know that they did change it. It's totally lame now! I was so glad you clued me into the fact that it might have changed because if I had ordered that without knowing it was a possibility I would have been extra disappointed. I'm definitely writing to Disney on this one because I really hate that they changed it.

Joining in popcorn::

:welcome:

So glad I found this thread! We head to POFQ for the first time in July. I had originally booked the Poly and I am still feeling a little blue about switching. One thing I was worried about was the food court and their lack of hours. We did tour FQ when we were there in Feb and we had breakfast at Sass, so I am a little familiar with the place. Did you do any early mornings? With the heat and crowds of July, we plan on fully utilizing both AM and PM EMHs. Just wondering what Sass offers for the early opening and late hour. I heard the grill section isn't open until 7? But that cheese danish looks like it might have to be my breakfast all week :) Yum!
