Part Three: Our second amazing day!
The alarm was set for 7am, but for some reason we all slept through it and I woke up naturally at 10 to 8!!! Oh no, that meant we were well behind schedule, so I quickly hustled everyone up and out of their beds and into the bathroom to perform their various ablutions!! We then rushed down for breakfast, and while it would be lovely to remind myself of all the lovely breakfast food, I will resist the temptation and just say : for breakfast, refer to yesterday!!!
It was then back to the room to pick up the AP lanyards and our trusty bag of essentials (sun cream, caps and hats, sunglasses, camera, camcorder etc). We were ready to catch the bus at 09:17 not bad going really. Now todays plan of action was basically the same as yesterday, with heavy fastpass abuse in the morning and early afternoon, and our first port of call was to be Buzz Lightyear again. On the way we heard some very strange noises coming from one of the rooms above Victorias Restaurant at the Central Plaza ..it sounded like Winnie the Pooh having a shower and brushing his teeth, and then gargling! It was very strange and I wonder has anyone else ever heard this!!! We continued into Discoveryland where we grabbed fastpasses for Buzz Lightyear and Space Mountain. As Buzz only had a 10 minute wait line we rode it while waiting for the fastpass time, I dont know if that makes sense but we had to fill the time somehow!!! Taryn was chuffed as she reached Level 4, but I never got above Level 2. This ride is such good fun, especially watching how annoyed Tony gets when I accidentally spin the car in the opposite direction to the targets .whoops!!!! When we got off the ride, our fastpasses were active, so back on we went for another spin .I decided to stop spinning Tony away from the targets as I realised that divorce solicitors fees may well take a big chunk out of my next holiday savings!!
We couldnt persuade the kids to tackle the flight to the supernova, so Tony and I, intrepid adventurers that we are, rode it alone.
My theory about the left hand train being smoother was about to be completely demolished .we set out on the left hand train, and when we returned we were on the right hand track so the left hand train in effect became the right hand train, so you could basically be riding any train on either side. So basically it made not the slightest difference which ever side you embarked and if that makes any sense at all dear readers then you are higher up the IQ scale than I am!
After Space Mountain we decided to continue the space exploration and fly on the Endor Express, and as per usual I ended up feeling a bit green around the edges after this ride. It was now about time to relocate over to Frontierland to pick up some fastpasses for Big Thunder Mountain. While waiting for these to activate, we headed over to Pirates, via the Coolpost, where we picked up some drinks. We also had a listen to the telephone message and lifted the lid of the icebox to hear some very realistic sound effects of clinking ice and drinks being opened and poured. It amazes me the detail that goes into even the smallest areas.
Pirates was as amazing as ever, and I managed to get a few good photos The swinging pirate was no longer swinging and he stayed non-swinging throughout our stay. Here are a few of my pirates photos:
After this Tony headed off to ride Indiana Jones, a ride I have only ever ridden once with my Dad, on my first ever DLP trip, and I didnt really like the insecure feeling of this ride so poor Tony always has to ride alone on this one! It was then time for Big Thunder and Phantom Manor. Tony was by now feeling a wee bit peckish, and so we headed for Caseys Corner, where he picked up a large hot dog and fries! Taryn and I decide to visit the Ice Cream Parlour, and ended up with 3 scoops each. Now the coconut ice cream here is just amazing. Daniel had a waffle with chocolate sauce. Nice to see that we are sticking to our healthy eating plan on this trip! While munching away on this little lot we sat in the shade outside Caseys and listened to the band which was playing. It was by now becoming really, really hot and quite humid, so we thought to cool off a bit we would wander down Main Street and catch the train at Main Street Station and do a complete tour of the park. However, when we reached the station, the wait for the train was actually 60 minutes, and I do not do 60 minute waits in the heat of the day, so the plan was changed. On the way to the station we heard the dentist in operation on Town Square which was funny.
We then decided to have a look in the Disney Village shops to see if there were any pins that might take our fancy. Daniel purchased a Nightmare before Christmas T-shirt and Taryn purchased 2 movie posters from Nightmare and Corpse Bride to put up on her bedroom wall at home. Tony started a new pin collection of the various lands in DLP, and spent the rest of the trip trying to find an Adventureland pin, which seemed very elusive, and try as he might he wasnt to be successful in his quest on this occasion.
Then we decided to return to the Hotel for a battery re-charge and change of clothing prior to dinner. Dinner this evening was to be at Café Mickey .and I had somehow forgotten to mention the fact that it was a character meal. Now my two are a bit reluctant to interact with characters unless it is thrust upon them by the character and is unavoidable they certainly wont queue to have a photo, so by booking a but I didnt realise it was a character meal I had hopefully created a lot of spontaneous character interactions which hopefully would result in lot of photo opportunities!!! Read on to see if the plan worked ..
We headed out to catch the pink shuttle to the village, and it was absolutely bucketing down with rain. When we got to the bus stop we had to run like crazy, stopping under whatever cover we could to avoid the deluge on the way to the restaurant. The time I had taken to straighten my hair was completely wasted, as it turns to frizz at the very hint of damp weather! Never mind. We were a bit early for our booking so we popped into Billy Bobs for a drink while we waited, and watched a band warming up. Then we ran over to Café Mickey, dodging the raindrops as we ran!
Fortunately there were no characters in evidence when we arrived and were shown to our table, so I managed to get everyone over the threshold without a fuss. We sat down, perused the menu, and ordered the following: Tony had the set menu: garlic mushrooms, a steak and an apple pastry with caramel ice-cream (not forgetting the two spoons!), Taryn, Daniel and I all had pizza (Taryn and me without any tomato base!), the kids had ice cream to follow and I just helped Tony with his dessert. Tony and I had a couple of glasses of wine, the kids had sodas and the bill came to 96 euros. The meal was very nice although the pizza were too big to finish completely.
During the meal the characters came out and they all came around the table and even though the kids were shocked and a bit embarrassed at first when Captain Hook and Mr Smee came round
they soon got into the spirit of things, and had photos taken with Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Tigger .
So my sneaky ploy worked!!!
We also had some silly moments with the kids stuff they had been given .
After dinner we decided to go back into the park, and headed for Big Thunder, but the wait was 40 minutes, so instead we went to see the Pirates, and we went round 3 times in all, just stopping on the boat at the end of each ride! I think the CM thought we were mad!
We finally tore ourselves away from the pirates and went back to Big Thunder, where we waited for about 15 minutes and then rode it in the dark and for some reason it seems so much wilder in the dark! By now we were feeling the need for sleep after two busy days so we decided to head back to the hotel for an early-ish night. Main Street was busy as Fantillusion had just started, so we made a quick exit down Liberty Arcade, missed the rush for the pink shuttle and were all tucked up in our beds within the hour!!
