I am thinking of renting points and trying to book something for Thanksgiving week of 2006. I have a million questions but- here are my main questions.

1. What are my choices for a family of five- that would be 9-14 points per night on a weeknight?

2. Can I add the dining plan WITHOUT buying park passes?

3. Can we use Magical Express as renters?

4. What is the best way to find someone who can rent me what I need?- Should I go to the rent/trade board and post my needs and wait?

I think it would be highly unlikely to find any room available for Thanksgiving of this year, but you could always go to the DIS rental board to try. Your only option would be a studio plus at BWV's, but even those will be far more points per night over Thanksgiving....

The answer is yes, you can add dining & ME....

I doubt 9-14 points per night is possible for that time period and for 5 people. You COULD use a 1 bedroom with 5 people, but you would be VERY cramped and would only have one real bed, no matter which DVC you stay. in. You're probably going to need a 2 bedroom. OKW will be the least amount of points per night. A 1 bedroom will be 22 points a night, and a 2 bedroom will be 30 points a night at that time of year. Also, that week is a very popular week, so you might be limited on what is available. You don't say the ages of your children, but it if 1 is under 3, you will be able to use a studio room, which is 11 points a night for that time period. Studios sleep 4 plus one child under 3 who would sleep in a pacNPlay.

Yes, you can add the dining plan without adding park tickets at DVC, and you can use ME.

Thanks- I was confused by the points calculator- it is showing 8-11 pts for OKW and similar for BW studio for my dates- but I had no idea about occupancy. I think I will stick to my original plan and stay at POR.

You were correct on the points for OKW studio: Nov 19-21 (Sun-Tue) 8 points/night, and Nov 22-23 (Wed-Thu) 11 points/night. For the 24th it would be 27, and the 25th would be 21.
BWV standard view would be 9/11, and preferred view would be 12/14.
BWV standard view would probably hard to get.
But as mentioned, the main problem would be occupancy limits.

With 5 you really need to stay in a one bedroom at least. Even then you won't have beds and linens for five, only four.
