TOT or MFSR at rope drop?

Title says it all - which is the best one to hit first if we want to do both? We haven't been to HS since SWGE opened, and have never been without FPs, so I feel totally clueless. I do have Touring Plans but they don't seem to account for any rope drop advantage. Also want to be sure to do TSMM and SDD and hoping to snag a ROR BG. Everything else we could take or leave. Thanks!

TOT capacity has been severely impacted by social distancing.

Right now, at 7:45 PM, MFSR is showing a 20-minute wait. TOT is showing 45 minutes.

We're planning out our rope drop strategy for our trip in just over a week and I've seen at least a couple of rope drop videos where TOT wasn't open right away. Problem is, after going on MMRR or SDD I've seen them consider going back to TOT and by then it's open but the line is long.

Looks like it's a tough call as to when is the right time to go for TOT. Early makes sense, since the lines get long during the day, but waiting in line for it to open while other attractions are already up and running would drive me crazy.

Thank you, this is exactly why I asked you knowledgeable people :) TOT is a top 5 ride for us, from all of the parks combined, and we're determined to ride it, and are staying at the BC so were also planning to walk over well before official opening time. We have about 6 weeks before our trip, I guess I'll just keep checking wait times obsessively and seeing if we'll take our chances at rope drop or just suck it up and wait the 45-60 minutes later in the day.

I vote TOT. We went the other day and saw a good chunk of people heading straight to TOT at rope drop. We didn‘t ride that but we did ride MFSR after riding RnRc 3 times and the wait on that was barely 20 minutes. TOT‘s wait times got crazy real quick.

TOT wasn't open yet when we arrived so we went to RNRC and walked on there. When we finished, TOT was open so we got in line and waited about 20-25 minutes.

We were there a week ago. I highly recommend TOT first. You’ll only be waiting 20 minutes or so. We got there a half hour before park open and we were able to ride. Our second day we didn’t get to HS until 9:45. We used our ROTR pass first and then went over to MFSR. The sign said 60 min, but the wait was 30. My kids waited an hour for TOT later in the day that day and the times never went down.

I would choose to ride MFSF over TOT, so it's not a competition for our family.

We rope dropped ToT a couple of weeks ago and were able to ride it twice in a row with no wait. After that the line built steadily and was long the rest of the day. It was open right at rope drop (around 8:15), but that of course varies each day.

If riding ToT is important to you, I think rope dropping it is a great idea.

ToT. With social distancing, the line move much slower.
We did 3 other rides first at RD and waited 40 minutes for ToT.
However, an hour later it was 70 minutes. the line builds and rarely decreases much during the day.

I do have Touring Plans but they don't seem to account for any rope drop advantage.

You can bump your opening time earlier on TP to account for rope drop (45 minutes max). You can also look at wait times for a few days to see which rides tend to have lower wait times later in the day and which stay high (I believe ToT stays pretty high all day). Or you could just do a customized plan for a small part of the morning, put things in a certain order, evaluate (instead of optimize) and then switch and evaluation again to see how different scenarios are likely to play out.
