We've done 23 cruises and have our first visit to Tortola on the books. I'm a big fan of snorkeling/watersports (and so is DW). Since we've never been there before, DW asked me to research non-snorkeling/beach activities before I book us a full day on a boat. We're not big fans of the 4x4 tours, we're thinking of a shopping area/cultural type on-your-own explorations. Trip Advisor and the listing of DCL excursions don't fill me with hope, and I couldn't find anything in other threads here. If y'all have some experience here, I'd much appreciate it. Thanks!

This may not be the place to miss the water. The VI (US and British) have such wonderful water.

Any interest in The Baths? That is one of the biggest draws in BVI. You can DIY (ferry, shuttle, hike/swim/fly) for a lot less than a DCL excursion.

I'm leaning very hard towards a day snorkeling, but am doing my due diligence for 'other' things too. Still digging, but am fairly convinced to go float, sun and swim.

The Baths don't really hold much interest for us. It's a beach with some massive rocks covering the shallows creating unique areas. Got it. DW grew up in San Diego, not much interest there...

Are you finding any info on good snorkeling sites or transportation to them?

I tie the lack of responses to the lack of options. I pretty much see Jost Van Dyke, The Baths, Cane Garden Beach, and private boat charter mentioned over the years. There may be zip lines. Brewers or Long Beach sometimes mentioned.

If you find anything that looks good, please share for others who may in your situation: what to do in Tortola. When you only visit 2 ports and CC, it’s can be even more important to have good experiences.
