Driving time from New York City to Toronto is approximately 8 and a half hours without stops, about 500 miles.
I guess accomodations will depend on what part of Toronto you want to be in. There are tons and tons of places to stay there but they don't tend to be very cheap.
What are you planning on doing while you are in Toronto.
