The past couple of years I've gone to Disney and went thru American customs at Toronto Pearson before getting to Orlando - so at the Orlando airport it was just a matter of getting our luggage and going......
Someone I spoke to that went this past October said that they had to go thru customs again once they landed in Orlando... have things changed???

Just want to know what I'm doing before I get there! haha.... I liked just getting off the plane and going... but would like to budget my time accordingly...

Anyone know?

Awesome!!! Thank you! After being on a plane for a few hours - the last thing I want to do is go thru customs again!!! I just want to get to the PARKS!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

The last few times we went ,we cleared customes at Pearson. However, there was one time recently when we went with Air Transat (and for whatever reason). we had to go through customes at MCO (I think maybe the Pearson customs was perhaps overloaded ?

I have flown both Air Transat (Oh my god airlines) and just last week flew US air.
Both times did Customs in Toronto. No Customs check in Orlando.
Just make sure you have all your documentation in order when leaving Orlando.
I was with my husband and 5 year old son and there was a problem with my boading pass, and we were seperated and sent through seperate security lines.
I had my purse dumped, my shoes were x-rayed and then had a wand of some sort go through them, then I was frisked.

Last year in Feb we went through security in Toronto and then in Orlando but went through customs in Orlando. Stood in line FOREVER behind a crying child who would not stop no matter what thier poor mother did to try to stop it. This time we are flying out of Buffalo, customs at the border we hope wont be as pain staking.

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry for what you had to go thru - that must have been just awful!!!!! Luckily (and I knock wood as I say this) we've never had any interruptions when it comes to security.

Last November we flew out of BUF but friends of ours flew out of Pearson. They said that they also had to go through customs in Orlando. I couldn't figure it out at the time why they went through customs twice and still have no idea why it happened.

I believe that whether you go through US custom at Pearson versus Orlando will depend on whether you are travelling a regular scheduled airlines or a chartered aircraft. I think the departing terminal will probably tell you. Pearson Terminal 2 - US customs in Toronto, Peason Terminal 3 - US customs in Orlando. I don't think under either scenario you would be going through US customs twice...it would either be in Toronto or Orlando, not both.

We have always departed terminal 3 and have been routed thru US customs in Toronto 6 times but we were routed through US customs in Orlando once.
We much prefer US customs in Toronto it is so nice to just collect your luggage and go. A customs official explained to us that it depends on how busy US flights are at the time you are leaving, US airlines get priority with US customs so if there are not that many flights going out the same time as you then you will be allowed thru US customs in Toronto.

I have never heard of anyone having to go through customs twice.
Once you leave Ontario/Canada your luggage is gone and you don't see it until you arrive at your destination.
There is no security/customs in Orlando until you leave for your return home.
The whole reason for the customs at pearson is to screen travellers entering their country, they aren't going to screen you twice

The one time I flew Westjet, I too had to clear customs at MCO. We did not have to clear customs twice however. Although I expected , as usual, to go through customs at Pearson, I was told upon arrival that there had been a change, and we would be waiting until MCO to clear customs. I also believe it had something to do with Pearson being extra busy.

When we came back last week we had to go through customs at MCO. it was 7 am and luckily not at all busy. when we passed that area on our way through MCO coming into Orlando a week earlier there was a Huge crowd of people in line, we weren't sure what we'd be in for. Maybe its a random thing. :confused3

It will be very easy and simple. Just have your airline confirmation handy to show and your ID.

From NS and we have been clearing customs at Pearson. Our problem is that when we go in April, we have only one hour betweenflights, have to change terminals and clear customs, I am worried that we will run short on time. Has anyone ever mised their connector flight because of this?

If you are on the Westjet flight that originates in Halifax , changes planes in Toronto then heads to MCO....then I've been on that flight twice (going from Toronto),and I know all of the Halifax folk have managed to get through no problem.

We came very very close one time. That darn terminal change took FOREVER. This was on the way back from Orlando. I always laughed when I saw people run through the terminal, but that time I was was of those people! We were the last ones on the flight, but it seemed like they were waiting for all 3 of us. As soon as we boarded they closed the door. Did I ever feel sheepish.

Now I make sure I have at least 2 hours inbetween if at all possible!

Are you saying you cleared customs in Orlando, on the way back to Canada?

It isn't customs in Orlando that you go through when you are leaving, it is security.
The US doesn't care what you are taking from the country, they care that you are safe to go on the aircraft.
You do customs in Toronto.
By the way make sure all of your documentation is correct and up to date.
There was a problem with mine, I had to go back to the airline and get a new boarding pass, I was then seperated from my son and husband, had my purse dumped and was frisked,
Not pleasant.
