Toronto help...please

Dh and I are taking a long weekend trip over Labor Day to Toronto. We'll be there from Sat(2nd)-Wed(6th).
We will definately catch a few BlueJays games b/c DH loves them (if they're home) but I don't know what else to do.

We've visited a few times but we usually stick to the Bluejays games. We have managed to catch The Lion King, visit SecondCity and visit the Hockey Hall of Fame, but that's it.

We're staying at the Delta Chelsea and we would love any and all suggestions for things to do, places to visit...etc.

The only problem with driving around is the parking....far too expensive. It is much cheaper to take transit or subway for which you can buy day passes for.

The Canadian National Exhibition will be on at that time, you could also see Ontario Place at the same time. Also, touring the Harbourfront and Queen's Quay/Beaches area is great. The Espanade and Distillary District has a lot to offer also. Hmmm....one more thing...The Royal Ontario Museum is a great way to spend a few hours also.

Because you will be there in the summer, there is so so so much to do and everything except the CNE is withing walking distance of the Chelsea.

If you like theme parks Canada's Wonderland is open just north of the city.
Also the Ontario Science Centre (very interactive).

My fav passtime is to go to Kensington Market! It's in the heart of Chinatown on Spadina between Dundas and College. They have cute little shops and restaurants.

Then of course there is Yorkville area, just north of Bay and Bloor. Very upscale but worth to take a walk thru.

Can't forget about the Eaton Centre and Yonge Street!

Of course, you mentioned the Blue Jays.

These are all within walking distance too.

You could always try for a picnic on Centre Island.

The Lord of the Rings should still be playing but not sure. You could check out Mirvish.com

just to name a few.........I'll have to put my thinking cap on!LOL

If you like science fiction, horror, comic books, anime or anything like that, there's a huge show/convention at the Metro Convention Centre on the long weekend.

Somebody's already suggested the Lord of the Rings musical...it's premiering in February so it should be playing here when you get here (Princess of Wales Theatre)

Others have mentioned the CNE. On Labour Day weekend, they'll have the air show. Bring a lawn chair, head to the EX and relax and watch the planes fly by.

CNE-Canadian National Exibition is a fun outing on Labor Day weekend.

There is mid-way full of rides. There are dog and horse shows. There is a HUGE indoor shopping pavillion where each tent is from a different country selling goods and food from that country. There is a HUGE food building.

If you are interested in Th ROM (Royal Ontatio Museum) it used to be free on Friday evenings , but not special shows. Eatons Centre is within walking distance of the Delta. Vaughn Mills Outlet Mall is close by Canada's Wonderland and Mikos toy warehouse may be open by then (but it may be too early)
