Hi all,

We are really torn about where to stay on our next trip. We'll be there the last week of Sept/first week of October 2006. Prime hurricane time! We have always stayed at POFQ (love it) but thought we would try a deluxe this time. DH wants the CR Tower, and I'm thinking WL as it is a tad cheaper. Of course, we could always do POFQ again, but I'd hate to be stuck there in a hurricane.

Should we maybe try a split stay between WL and CR?

Any thoughts, advice, comments? All would be appreciated.

I'm also staying near that time, probably late october, been hearing so much about AKL and since my son is an animal lover 4 yrs old i think he will love it. I have been reading these message boards since the beginning of this year, you will get great advice hear.

I LOVE WL. We stayed there last November for our first 5 nights and it was spectacular. Since you have never stayed there, I would suggest trying it. The WL boat and buses are efficient and run every 10 minutes or so. IMO, The best thing about the CR is being on the monorail line.

We always split our stay between resorts so we get to experience as many resorts as possible. Good Luck!

Going through the same thing w/ my DH. We have stayed at a value, deluxe, and home away from home (no mods). Anyway we LOVE AKL and want to stay there this trip but I think about the money we could save if we stayed at a value or even a mod. I also don't want to book a standard room at AKL so the price jump is great! But in the end this is how I decided I lost a bet w/ DH and up for the prize was you guessed it the winner picked the resort. and of course he picked AKL. I would say let him decide for once. I know that my DH really doesn't plan the trip w/ me. I decided on everything the only thing he does, besided pay for it!, is get the okay from work on the time frame I've chosen. So this trip he feels more important. He feels good that he helped w/ the decision making. So I say let your DH decide. You could do a split stay or try CR this trip and WL next if you don't want to split. We don't split just don't like to do it but if your up for it! It may just be the answer your looking for!

Dh and I stayed at AKL at the end of Oct. last year (AND just returned from 8 days there this past week!!) and loved it. I have to say that I enjoyed the Oct. visit without children and with lower crowds much more. At the end of this past week, we decided to extend our visit by 2 days. Because of the Memorial weekend, EVERYTHING was booked. We finally lucked into a cancellation at CSR -- a place that I have to admit did not excite me at first. I have to admit that I ended-up enjoying this resort every bit as much as AKL -- and for only $109/night with AP. Originally, we had planned to stay at WL late next fall; but we may rethink this now.

We were always CR-Tower patrons until this past May when we joined DVC and wanted to try VWL to have a kitchenette for the baby. We never really missed the Tower and absolutely loved VWL. I think we finally realized that so long as you are at WDW and have the right attitude, you probably can't go wrong at any of the deluxe hotels Disney has to offer. We thought we would never stay at AKL but are now tempted to try it for a short trip when we don't use our points.

All that being said, we plan to stay in the Tower again for another trip where we don't want to use so many points for a weekend stay, etc. Bottom line, you will be happy at either resort. Both of them have their own unique advantages. In terms of price, you may want to consider the Poly (never stayed there but plan to one day) as I seem to recall that a GV room at Poly is priced b/w the WL and the Tower.

One final point - we thought we were going to really miss the convenience of walking to/from MK. Yes, waiting for the bus is never fun, but one night, we got to the bus stop at MK about 8:45, got on the bus at 8:50 and were literally back in our room by 8:58. Not bad! In general, the buses were fine. Also, getting to Epcot from the CR by monorail is not as convenient as it might initially seem b/c you have to change monorails at the TTC which requires you to walk down one ramp and back up another. I can see why the Poly lovers like the ability to walk to the TTC and then just catch the Epcot monorail.
