Torchwood - Children of Earth

I fell asleep and didn't get to see the whole episode.... did anybody see it? Will I be totally lost tonight?

Anyway, when did you fall asleep? This is the end in a nutshell.

Nutshell:Gwen went to see the guy at the asylum....turns out he was the little boy from the beginning (rode on the bus and all his friends went into the "light"). Changed his name and has been hiding ever since. He told her she was pregnant, she doesn't believe him. He can "smell" the aliens, and when the "govt." comes to get him, he runs. Meanwhile, new doc team member called Jack to hospital and shoots him (he's working for govt.,was supposed to infiltrate Torchwood but PM ordered Jack and others killed to cover up Britians knowledge of aliens), then other bad guys come in and plant a bomb inside Jack while he's dead. Bad guys kill doc and leave. Jack goes back to Torchwood and while Gwen is scanning herself to see if baby is real, Jack holds her hand, they see the bomb on the scan and he sends Gwen and guy (his boyfriend) out, he gets blown up. BTW, the woman with short dark hair with the little blonde boy is Jacks DAUGHTER!! Little boy is his grandson. She doesn't want Jack in their lives cause he's unexplainable and dangerous.

They are! Every night the previous episode will be at 8:00, also after at midnight. I can't record at 9 tonite, so I am recording at midnite!

The show was great! I never watched the other Torchwoods, and now NEED too!! LOL!

It was really good. Can't wait for tonight. Even as sleepy as I was I managed to stay awake. It was interesting seeing Ianto and Jack's families. I didn't even know Ianto had a sister. When the kids were all stopped and started the "We are coming" chant, it made me think of the alien on the episode "Midnight" from Doctor Who. They took over people and learned to talk through them. Another interesting question is what does Unit have against Torchwood. I would think they'd want to work together on this one. Good thing Martha isn't there b/c that would have caused a lot of trouble and she'd probably have called the Doctor in on it.

Does anybody else think that the secretary looks kind of familiar? (Not from Torchwood, but I think maybe she resembles some other actress...)

And I totally called that the asylum guy was the same person as the little boy from the 1950s. I sure hope he gets away.

Really? I think she belongs to the "dark side". Either a plant by the aliens, Unit or something else, but I did not get any good vibes from her.

As for why UNIT doesn't like Torchwood....TW won't share the good toys. UNIT just hates that they can't control TW.

Question: Wow! Torchwood: Children of Earth pretty much ascended to a BSG level of fraktacularness. Is there even the slightest chance that the franchise will continue? Personally, I can't see it coming back from the emotional shock at the end. --Amy
Ausiello: First off, we're only up to Part Four here in the States, so watch the spoilers, missy. Second, yes, Torchwood will most likely live on, according to T-boss Russell T. Davies. "I’m fairly confident the series [will continue] in some shape or form," he says. "I will just sit down and invent new stories and characters -- that’s what I’ve spent my entire life doing." Wait a sec, new characters? Jack will continue to be the show's central hero, right? "Oh, I would think so," he says. "I would hope so. He’s absolutely fundamental to Torchwood." (For more on the emotional shock that Amy referred to above, come back here tonight after Part Four airs. Trust me.)

this is hysterical especially since I'm slowing scrolling through this thread to make sure I don't read something I haven't seen yet.

I can not believe they haven't signed this show for another season yet.

I am loving this miniseries! And another Doctor Who this week too! I'm just so giddy!

I'm sick and missed Day 4. I did find out they're replaying it tonight before Day 5 and on Sunday they're playing all 5 days leading up to the new Doctor Who. Thank goodness. I'm just wondering if they're cutting something out. The episodes during the week are and hour and 15 minutes. When they're replaying it says only an hour. I know they don't have the behind the scenes thing but those were only 15 minutes. Maybe less commercials? The DVD set comes out next week.

We had a HUGE storm come through last night and our satellite kept on going in and out. We saw about the first 20 minutes of the episode, we saw the end of it but missed a major portion of what came in-between. Am glad the repeat is showing tonight.

As to how they are going to adjust things to make up for th 15 minute difference... hadn't thought of that.

And of course, we are getting the DVD set.
