Does Topsiders offer a buffet dinner? I know they offer breakfast and lunch, but am not sure about dinner..

Yes, they have dinner too. We went on the 7 night Western and ate most dinners at Topsiders, because we had last dinner and wanted to eat most times a little earlier, the food was great, and the view was even better.

Thanks Disneycruisen... Glad to hear you enjoyed it. We are going with alot of people and are having a tough time getting us all together for dinner (some have early seating, we have late).. We figure we'll take advantage of the buffet (and the great view) and all have dinner together at Topsiders quite a few times during the week.
Thanks again.

Uninspired? Isn't the food at Dinner the same as the food in the Dining Rooms... at least on the theme nights? I thought I read in the Passporter that you are able to order off a menu at Dinner time.

My DH and I were on the Magic in May, and Topsiders had a menu the evenings we were there. They also had a small but nice salad bar. We loved eating there. We had asked for a small table on our regular rotation, but ended up at a table for 10. So for a break in the routine a couple of nights, we turned to Topsiders. It was so quiet and relaxing there. Very few other guests were there when we were (in fact, the other guests were some of the ship's officers), so we had a table to ourselves, next to the windows. Great service, naturally, and I believe the food was similar to that offered in the dining rooms. Topsiders is an especially nice option for return cruisers who have done the rotations before and are looking for something in between the all-out dining room scene and the counter-service alternatives.

Isn't is a table service place for dinner though? I didn't think they had a buffet at night. We didn't make it up there on our cruise last month, we did go in 2002 and then it was table service from a menu.

I am not sure if Topsiders had the same menu as the regular dining room, but you do have a menu and get to choose what you want and they bring it to you, it is only buffet because they have the choices set up on the buffet table for you to see.
My Dh is more of a meat and potato man rather than the fancier foods and he found that at Topsiders he could always order a plan steak and did not have to feel funny about ordering it in front of a table full of on lookers. We found the food to be good, just as in the dining rooms.

Topsider's is becoming DH's and my favorite restaurant. The menu is not the same as in the rotation dining rooms but we thought that the food was excellent. It is very quiet and relaxing. It is great to be able to go when you feel like it and it is also nice if you don't feel like dressing up. Since we have become Disney Cruise addicts and have done the rotations six times I think that we will be taking advantage of Topsider's more often. The service is fast and you allows more time for activities you might miss if you are at your regular dining rotation. However, you are not rushed so you can linger and relax as long as you wish.

I am looking forward to my 1st cruise next month (thought I would never be able to say that) and reading all of the good things that you guys have to say about it, I will probably check it out...but I was wondering, do you tip the wait staff at the time of your meal and also tip the wait staff of your assigned rotation? I want to make sure that I do not stiff anyone on tips. Also, I am a picky eater, do they usually accomidate special request (leave off a sauce, exchange an item, etc..)?

I wouldn't suggest Topsiders for anyone's first cruise - you wouldn't want to miss any of the main dining room's menus, shows, parades, theme nights etc.

Topsiders WAS NOT a buffet at dinner when we were on the October 16th cruise. It was a buffet for breakfast and lunch. The people at our table at dinner ate there one evening and said it was the same menue as the restaurants had, and they were there on Pirates night they even got the bandanas up there....
