You forgot
-- terrible traffic
-- rampant growth, urban sprawl and strip malls
:rotfl:

That's part of the reason why I now live the north part of the state, and not Orlando, where I grew up.

Good reasons! :thumbsup2

I live in NJ and we have a family of lizards that live on/in my side door steps:scared1: They haven't made it into my house yet - good thing my dog would eat it!!!

My neighbor gets them and snakes in her house:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

We are also "known" for our flying bugs:sad2:

I'd love to work in Disney but for the reasons you mentioned - especially the heat! - I doubt highly it would ever happen.

TOP TEN REASON I WOULD MOVE TO ORLANDO

10. No Chance of a White Christmas
9. Lizards....they are so cute!
8. It's the beginning of May here in Ohio and it's 45 degrees right now
7. Beautiful flowers all the time (changing leaves are nice, but flowers in Feburary are better)
6. The "midges" invasions we get here off Lake Erie (worse than love bugs)
5. Palm trees
4. NO BLIZZARDS
3. NO ICY ROADS
2. DISNEY WORLD
1. DISNEY WORLD

I can't argue the freaking heat humidity thing though, it's the # 1 thing keeping
me from actually and really moving to Orlando. The lilac thing is another issue.
I LOVE my two huge lilac bushes, but eh, they only last a few weeks anyway,
I'd get over it for the palm trees.

eh, given the right opportunity, I would be there in a heart beat.

I'm with wildeoscar!

#1 reason why I WOULD move to Orlando - Never having to shovel 3 feet of snow off my car ever again!

I am pretty much right there with ya, except my #1 would be........ WDW is much more perfect and magical when you are only here on vacation. The real world sure can be a buzz kill!

I'm halfway between NY & FL, and it's so crazy hot/humid here in the summer-- but I won't ever complain about not having to shovel snow (I grew up in NY-- I know what that is like) But I like being close enough for a 10 hr. drive to the World!!
But if I was 20 again, I might just have to move to Orlando & work for Disney, and deal with the FL heat!

I haven't seen snow in 16 years :thumbsup2
Keep the lists coming! I'm loving reading them!

Us too!! We are dying to move to Florida. We are looking at the Melbourne area though not Orlando. We have not found the perfect hospital yet. The pay in Florida is really low. Our main reason for not moving there yet.

Count your blessings.

I hate the stuff. It didn't used to bother me, now the words "lake effect"
strike fear in my heart.

I must admit, I would love to see more than the 1" of snow I saw 16 yrs ago...but I'd just like to visit then leave. I agree that the pay is very low in FL, especially compared to the cost of living! I was offered a job transfer to Hernando County a couple of months ago (north of Tampa,) but had to turn it down. :sad2: Initially, I thought it looked like a substantial pay raise, but after going down and finding out about the cost of living, it was the equivalent to a 7% pay cut! Now that I think about it, someone could use that as another reason not to move!

10. Too Freaking Hot and Humid Let's talk in February
9. No Seasons But the beach is an hour away...east or west
8. It's the Beginning of May and its 90 degrees out. But on January 1st it was 70 degrees
7. Love Bugs Yeah ..well...no place is perfect.
6. Hurricanes Snowstorms
5. No leaves changing colors They do actually. It's MUCH more subtle
4. No Lilacs We have Crape Myrtles, Palm Trees and Gardenias in our yard.
3. Huge bugs that fly Got those everywhere. Junebugs anyone?
2. Lizards (they are cute when I'm on vacation, but not when they would get in my house) They eat the other bugs and are harmless.
1.No chance of a White Christmas. I'll have to think about that when I sit in the audience for the Christmas Eve Candlelight Processional after dinner in Epcot wearing shorts....or walk through Celebration watching the carolers.....or sit in the lobby of the GF having gingerbread.

*sighs* oh i want to move so bad i could pop!! dgf and i are in the "talking"stages of it now...maybe eventually we'll advance past that...:cheer2:

All of the reasons that Kevin has disputed are the reasons I WANT to move to Florida..

DH already knows my intention of moving.. its just not feasible right now because then I would have to move my children away from their father, but oh when they get older :thumbsup2 .. I figure in the next 8-10 yrs.. as youngest is almost 11 right now..

After living here for all my life haha i have to say ill never leave. Everything Kevin said was on point and ill add nothings better then a cool dry day in florida in the winter time it just doesn't get any better then walking Epcot nice and sunny and cool.

I don't know. My 5 year old nephew doesn't understand that Disney World is in Florida, or even Orlando. He totally seperates them and thinks they are completely different things. When we went, after we left WDW, he said "Are we back in Florida now?" and I think that's how I'd look at it. Disney would still be magical, unto itself, just ALOT closer.

I so agree with Kevin. I did the winter thing and don't miss it at all. I love when friends call and they are in the midst of a snow storm. I am sitting here in shorts and flip flops with the doors and windows open.

It used to get very hot and humid in PA. At least in Orlando I have air conditioning.

I love waking up and deciding what beach I want to go to and it is only an one hour in each direction.

Yes we do have seasons.

The bugs are a small price to pay for living in paradise. I wouldn't move back North if you paid me large sums of money.

I find traffic and the roads much better here than in PA.
