Top Secret Pixie Dust! A Surprise 13th Birthday PTR! NEW! TRIP REPORT LINK PAGE 220!

Hope you enjoyed the snow! We're finally getting some here tomorrow. It's been a very strange winter so far! We have a few scattered patches of snow here & there, but a lot of the ground is bare - we don't usually see the ground until at least March around here... 4-8 inches tomorrow! Looks like a snow day for us.

I think you're getting our share of snow. There was a huge storm that was supposed to pass our way, and ended up all but missing us. We got a tiny bit of snow, and wouldn't you know, due to the doom and gloom weather forecast, I actually took the day off from work? :lmao:

I would prefer Shocker's variet of MOUNDS over the mounds at the end of my driveway! It's higher than me! Our snow will not melt anytime soon.

We just got another inch over night and now it's sunny - oh so bright! Might be a sledding day again! We are all home today for President's day.

Do you know the dates for the change in parade and fireworks? I'm kind of sad about not having Wishes! I LOVE WISHES!

I think I will be baking today or tomorrow (I have all the stuff to make oatmeal blueberry cookies). Yesterday, I spent the entire day sitting wrapped in blankets and reading.

Oh that sounds yummy! I'll be baking this week, the kids have the whole darn week off.

All caught up. Your oatmeal blueberry cookies sound yummy. Do you mind sharing your recipe? My dd has declared oatmeal cookies to be her favorite even though she has never had them. :rotfl: I told her I would make some this week and yours sound really good.

Well, Georgia finally got some snow yesterday. Of course, it is nowhere near what some other states have been experiencing, but it was probably a good two or three inches. Chelsea and Connor have been playing in it and have made snowmen and snow forts.

These pictures were taken about three hours after the snow started falling (around 4:00), and it kept snowing until around 10:00 last night.

The temperatures dropped overnight, so now we are stuck at home because the roads are too icy. I am sure the kids won't complain too much as they are sure to spend most of the day outside playing in the snow.

Even Mickey was able to enjoy the snow! ;)

Aww yay for you! SNOW!!! I know you mentioned you were feeling a bit neglected, it's nice to see that Mother Nature finally took care of her little stepchild :rotfl:. I love the pictures- newly fallen snow is so pretty! Glad the kiddies enjoyed it. We had a few inches here in NC, Andrew must have watched the weather channel for hours listening to the forecast. He was happy with the few inches we got as well, but unlike your snow, ours melted way too fast! He was slightly disappointed.

I'm an Almond Joy person, myself.
Nuts about nuts, for sure.

Maybe there's a new book to be written here - Cloudy with a Chance of Almonds?

:rotfl: I like nuts, too, especially pecans -- either in pies or pralines. :lovestruc

Our mounds of snow are gone, but we have a solid sheet of ice all over everywhere. We have a teacher work day, but they've already backed that up two hours, and they are out re-evaluating, according to the news. They'll probably go ahead with it for whoever can get there, because some schools flew speakers in at great expense. We don't have anyone special coming, so they told us if we didn't feel comfortable, just to take a personal day. I'll decide in a couple of hours what I am going to do. They have closed sections of the interstates saying they are ice skating rinks. If things don't change, I'll be home all day. A personal day is a small price to pay for not getting my car wrecked!

Has the ice melted at all yet, MeMom, or are you looking at the possibility of another day off tomorrow?

The boys are sure to enjoy playing in all that snow!

Well...anymore snow, today? :confused3

I am having the second "Snow-Day Monday" in a row! :)

No more snow for us. I would hazard to guess, we are done for the year.

And you got nothing? A bit of a let-down when you are expecting it, I would guess.

I would not like having that much snow! :sad2:

I am not sure about the exact dates for the changes in the parade and fireworks. I am sure Disney will be releasing them soon. The fireworks at Magic Kingdom are always so fun -- I am sure their summer ones will be great to see!

Oh that sounds yummy! I'll be baking this week, the kids have the whole darn week off.

The whole week??? Really???

All caught up. Your oatmeal blueberry cookies sound yummy. Do you mind sharing your recipe? My dd has declared oatmeal cookies to be her favorite even though she has never had them. :rotfl: I told her I would make some this week and yours sound really good.

The recipe I use is very easy -- it's the one on the Quaker Oats box and instead of a cup of raisins, I use a cup of dried blueberries. Sometimes I use a cup of dried cranberries instead, or a cup of chocolate chips. I love oatmeal cookies! :lovestruc

Are you off this week?

Nope. I am back to the grind tomorrow. What about you?

Yes, this stepchild is grateful! :lmao:

That's a great idea to substitute blueberries for the raisins, I may try that tomorrow!

Yes...the whole week off!

Big kids only had last Friday and today off, the E's get the whole week (and a week for Spring Break so we get out of school pretty late). Which is why we braved Presidents week on our trip last year, it was the only time we could get all 4 kids on vacation together and even with that each had to miss a couple of days.

It's odd now to be stuck at home for the whole week when last year at this time we were at Disney! It will however make the Cali trip that much more of a surprise to the boys though!

As a working parent though it's tough. Since xmas break they've had MLK weekend, a conference week (four half days), 2 in-service days and now the mid-winter break. If I do get a "real" job again I am dreading going back to dealing with the logistics of coverage.

NYC schools are closed all week for mid-winter recess. It's snowing here again, but not sticking. Since this vacation has started, I've watched more trash television than I ever have. Spring break is the end of March/beginning of April. Do you have a winter break?

Our winter break is called a snow day. :rotfl: :rotfl: We get the 23rd of December to the first of the year for our Winter Break.

I'm so jealous that your going to get to see MSEP! It's one of my fonest memories from my childhood. I love Spectro, but it's not quite the same. The music for MSEP just makes the whole parade for me.

Two trips this year, and I'm going to miss the parade. Boo! My brother and SIL are going at the end of August, think I can crash their trip too?

Hey Jackie!

Yeah for snow days! The whole country has been slammed this year, huh? It's so strange - we get snow every year, of course, but I don't remember this much in the past few years. My mom was saying the other night that this reminds her of winters they would have when she was younger.

Is spring here yet?!?!?!?! :cool2:

Forget the recipe, would you mind sharing the cookies?

Sure, I just baked them yesterday, but they are going fast. You better hurry!

:lmao: I told Charles he was going to end up reminding me of The Shining if we were stuck indoors all weekend together.

Shall I continue?

No, please! I take back my nuts comment!

How are you holding up, Cynthia, as the week is progressing? I always wish we were headed somewhere when we have time off -- we all tend to get on each other's nerves by the end of it. I am thankful that I don't have to figure out logistics though -- being off at the same time as the kids is one of my favorite parts of my job.

Oh, by the way, did you go see The Lightning Thief on Monday? Curious to hear what you thought of it.

Nope. No winter break for us. How has your week been so far? I thought of you the other night when I saw that Bret Michaels was going to be on the Celebrity Apprentice. :rotfl:

Beautiful snow pictures!!! I love the fresh look of snow - even when we get it here, despite the 3 million feet on the ground already.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: The middle one is completely disturbing!

I do love freshly fallen snow -- the dirty slush that is tramped into my house, not so much.

We get two weeks off at Christmas and that's about as good as it gets until spring break. I won't really complain too much -- I love that we are out by the end of May.

Yes, crash their trip!!! Do you know, it's the music and Alice on the mushroom that I remember most fondly? I had a 45LP of the music and used to play it over and over and over. I wish I still had that record -- it had images from the parade screenprinted on it.

Hi, Katie! I am ready for spring in a huge way. I am tired of multiple layers of clothes, heavy coats, and gloves. I need flip flops and bathing suits at this point.

So far so good but we've been mildly busy enough to stave off the nerves. We did see the movie and went out to lunch after. The boys loved it though we did spend all of lunch discussing the differences. Which, although they were to be expected, were a little disappointing. I would say it met my expectations but didn't exceed them. Uma was by far the best part though we all got a kick out of Smelly Gabe. A few things (like how Poseidon looked, no Clarice, the camp itself not to mention what they were wearing etc) really annoyed/surprised all of us. Granted, Posiedon was easy on the eyes (love him on Grey's) but talk about a departure from the book. We wanted Jimmy Buffet lol. I did get a kick out of Hades though. Would have been better if he actually played one of those guitars.

What did you think? I think the boys loved the Hydra so much it made up for almost everything.

Yesterday was haircuts & baseball, today the gym, dentist, vet, TKD and Costco.

Super exciting stuff.

:rotfl:

They do have playdates the next 2 days though, thank heavens, and I do think we will do some baking tomorrow.
