Top ranked dishes from the Epcot Food & Wine Festival

Just got the email with this news:

The top five dishes from the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival were announced this week. For the second year in a row, the wild mushroom beef filet from the Canada pavilion took the top honor. Also for the second consecutive year, the Kalua pork slider from Hawaii was in second place. Both the third and fourth dishes came from the Argentina Marketplace - the grilled beef skewer, which was served with chimichurri sauce and boniato puree, and the beef empanada. Number five was a perennial favorite - the Le Cellier cheddar cheese soup. The dishes are ranked by number of units sold.

Who is judging this thing and were they incapable of walking past the front booths? I know this is all opinion but, BELGIUM WAS ROBBED!

As for the Steak, it was ok.... nothing to write home about. I'm going to have to come back and give my top 5. What were yours this year? Maybe I got the worst steak and cheese soup and missed what the hype is about?

I read that story too. Its interesting that this is based on the number of dishes sold. Some of my conclusions for whatever they are worth - and I know that's not much:

• Obviously LeCellier still has a loyal following for its steak.
• Word of mouth is not enough to boost the other truly good offerings.
• Yes, we all have different tastes, but
• Just being the biggest seller does not mean it is the best item.

Honestly, I didn't read the last line or it didn't register with me..... Obviously, the dishes sold has more to do with location as well. I just wish more people had gone to Belgium, France and others toward the back. Much better offerings.

Coffee is very important!!!

Its still an interesting story and does tell us something, but not definitively, about general tastes. It certainly tells me that my tastes aren't quite in line with those of the "general public", but then I knew that.

Correct me if I am wrong but, all the booths are "Front of Showcase." I think it's more of a reason than anything.

Yes, you are correct that all of the top 5 booths are at the entrance to World Showcase from Future World. That certainly has an impact on the popularity. We find that by the time we get half-way around WS, we're getting full and start skipping booths.

I had to go 4 times to hit everything I wanted. To be honest, this event is great but not one I'd go to every year unless it promised new menu or booths every year.
