We have purchased points from a DVC member, thru a 3rd party. We are staying at Bay Lake Tower. We aren't the actual member, yet we aren't a guest paying cash. Will we have access to the Top of the World Lounge and/or the adjacent deck for viewing fireworks? Thanks!!

No. Access is a DVC member perk. If you were staying WITH the DVC member's party , you could go, as long as one if them was with you.

You need a blue member card to access the lounge and a KTTW that shows you are staying on site.

In July,

I showed them our rented DVC Point Room Key, and they let us up there. We rented through a third party, and spent the evening up at Top of the World. Was fun and enjoyable.

You were lucky. I wouldn't count on it happening again as that is not the policy.

I am guessing enforcement will fluctuate with volume. It makes sense to allow DVC renters up if you have the room to entice future owners. If you are crowded, well, that's a different story.

As mentioned, it will really depend on whether or not they ask to see your member card. The lounge is for members but some CM's will let up those that have a KTTW card that shows DVC on it.

It's hit or miss so go with the expectation that you may be turned away.

We went in March and they didn't check our DVC ID either. We just showed them our KTTW card and it had DVC member on it.

I would try it.

no it depends upon the CM - one lady always checks for the DVC ID (blue card) - most of the others don't.

don't think the others will until DVC members start to complaint - and since the place is still pretty empty - really don't think anyone will. - okay deck outside - not the lounge which can be crowded.

We're stoked to visit this in Feb. When is the best time to get over there for a drink & the show? Does the deck fill up?

I have never seem the deck filled up - of course when my room (always a studio) has a view of the MK - don't go to TOW. guess should - but love watching them from my balcony.

guess about 15 minutes before the firework show begins - of course during party time MVMCP or MNSSHP - then would go sooner.

also watch the wind - if the wind is going directly toward BLT- FORGET IT - the fireworks has alot of smoke - and it can cancel the view.

In July it wasn't full, but if you didn't get there early you wouldn't have had a good view of the show.

Honestly though, I really didn't like the view. You see the castle from the side, and then the fireworks appear what looks like 50 yards behind it to the right. So to me it was cool, but not as cool as seeing it from other places.

Drinks can be bought up in the bar, but I don't know about taking your own. We got some light up drinks and a cheese plate, the drinks were fun, cheese plate little lame. This was stop #3 on our Bay Lake crawl...

I don't like the fireworks view from there either. It doesn't have the same effect, with the main fireworks so far behind the castle.

I am a DVC member and staying at VGF next month...will me and my husband(who is also a DVC member) be able to go for cocktails? What are the hours that the ToTW is open from - till? It would be later after the kiddies fall asleep and the grandparents babysit.

The rule is you have to own at BLT and be staying at BLT. Obviously they do not always enforce the own at BLT but I have never heard of them not enforcing the staying at BLT part. I think at a minimum your KTTWC has to say DVC and be a card for BLT.

No, owning at a resort doesn't give you the privileges of that resort. For example, you can own at BLT, but if you aren't staying there, you cannot swim there. Same with BVC. You can own at BCV, but if you aren't staying there, you can't swim there.

DVC changed the rules about TOTWL (see member website).

The rule is that you have to be a member staying at BLT.

DVC has made a trial change to the rule to include all members staying at WDW. They require your member ID and room key. They also want you to use Disney transportation and not take your car to BLT.

I had to show my blue DVC member card last month, but they never asked to see any proof that I was staying on site. Then I remembered-I was wearing a Magic Band. So obviously I was staying on site-guess they trusted me on dates.

Ok... so I want to make sure I understand...

If I own at GFV and am staying at GFV I can't use TotW?
What if I own at GFV but am staying at BLT? Still can't?

I 100% understand the logic of pool hopping. But this is a money maker for Disney, right? I would think it's about $100/couple that's up there drinking/eating?

Things sometimes come across harsher than I mean them to... I'm just trying to understand the rules! :)
