Does anyone know how far in advance am I allowed or, should I, make reservations to watch the fireworks in the lounge?

No reservation. If you are a DVC member using a DVC reservation (points or cash through MS), take your member card and KTTW and head for the elevator. If you are staying elsewhere or not a DVC member, you'll need to go sometime when you are staying at BLT on a DVC reservation.

It's 1st come, 1st served. If by chance it's full and you can't get in... you can get a good view of Fireworks on an Upper Floor North Elevator Lobby. There is a settee in each.

I would be shocked if it were full. I've been up there several times to view the fireworks and I've never seen more than 100 people up there. The capacity of the viewing area is 499.

If you're DVC and not staying at BLT (staying at OKW), can you still use the viewing area? If so where do you make a reservation? When can you make it? And do they food/beverage up there?

Unfortunately you have to be staying at BLT. It is a lounge with a bar and light appetizers.

As already said, you have to be staying at BLT on a reservation made by MS (Cash or Points). The TOTWL does not take reservations, it's first come first admitted.

So glad I found this tread. We are staying at BLT this summer and I thought going here would be a nice way to cap off my son's birthday. I'm so glad to hear there is little chance of them getting filled up. Since it is a bar/lounge do you think it is not "kid" friendly. My son is going to be turning 10.

I have not been there when it is open, but when we took our tour of BLT they took us up there and didn't say anything about it not being for kids. Every post that I have read said that it is perfectly ok to take kids to. I am definately taking mine and they are 7 and 14.:thumbsup2

kids are welcome.

even in the lounge - here they would not allow the kids in.

now realize that wall is at least 4' might be higher - so small kids can not see over it.

you can't use the wall to help hold your kids (don't know why but it upset the guards when there were guards)

so unless you can hold up your smaller kids - might get a relative or someone to kept the kids - as say each floor near the North elevators can see Space Mountain and you get a nice view of the fireworks from there.

Thanks - very helpful info. Hoping to get BLT for August @ 7 month mark to celebrate DD's 13th b-day.

There were some people trying to sit their children on the wall when it first opened and since there is no safety ledge the children could easily fall off- for awhile they had a block from anyone being closer than 3 feet to the edge. They had taken that down at our last visit but don't want the liability of someone accidently allowing their child to fall off a 16 story building.

I was there when it first opened (Sep 09) and I too saw people setting their kids and drinks on the wall:confused3. The wall used to have a flat top surface. I was next there in May 2010 and by that time the wall had been modified and you can no longer set anything on the wall. The wall now comes to a point, like a typical house rooftop.

We too had no problem getting into Top of the World in July. Very kid friendly - my kids loved the big round cushiony thing you can sit on. Food is decent too. The viewing area is actually outside of the lounge, but you can probably still see a good deal from inside.

You must be staying at BLT (in fact, you must be staying there even to get into the building - and they were fixing the loophole that let lots of others in right after we were there) and you must be a DVC member or the guest of a DVC member (i.e. MS made the reservation).

We just celebrated my DD14's birthday Thanksgiving week. I ordered a cake through CR ( spoke w/Brian)and had it delivered to TOTWL. They have a small alcove with oval seating/table. We were a party of 8 and it was perfect also, they have a transparent curtain they can close for a semi private feel
Very nice!
