My DH and I are going in May. We opted to add a night at BLT with a Theme Park View because I've seen rave reviews about watching Fireworks from your Balcony.

I'm wondering about the Top of The World Lounge. We are both DVC. Are reservations required?

Is it worth going? Any suggestions from Foodies?

TIA!

It's small. Really small. No reservations required but limited capacity. Must be a member either staying at BLT or staying on points at another DVC resort. Not much in the way of food options.

There's a new TOTWL dining package which includes dinner at The Wave followed by fireworks viewing in TOTWL. Offered daily between now and June 30th with some blackout dates. $59/person + tax and gratuity. One alcoholic drink is included in TOTWL. More available for purchase at both The Wave and TOTWL. You can book thru member services.

ETA: The dining package is considered to be a Membership Extra. You must be a blue card member to book it. White card members can still visit the TOTWL.

It's lovely up there. No reservations required. We enjoyed the pulled pork sliders and chocolate cake after the fireworks. We typically go up about an hour before showtime. Best view of the show in the world and very much worth it.

Here are the rules for going up to the TOTWL as they were written before 2019. Members have been told that the opportunity to go up there has been extended into 2019, but nothing has shown up on the member site yet.
Top of the World Lounge

One of the vacation kingdom’s most exclusive spaces, this lounge is available to Members and those in their traveling party who are staying on that Member's reservation. It’s an ideal place to savor light bites and refreshing cocktails—and unforgettable views.

Disney Vacation Club Members staying at any Disney-owned-and-operated hotel at Walt Disney World Resort (whether they booked with Vacation Points or cash) may enjoy access to one of the vacation kingdom's most exclusive spaces: Top of the World Lounge atop Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort through December 29, 2018.

Blockout dates apply for Top of the World Lounge, includingbut not limited to: December 30 — 31, 2017; July 3 — 4, 2018; and December 30 — 31, 2018. Current operating hours are 6:00 PM to midnight.

Accessing the Lounge

This perk is available for our Members and their guests. People who are in that Member’s traveling party and staying on that Member’s reservation are also eligible to visit Top of the World Lounge. At least one Member in the traveling party must accompany the group and present his or her current MagicBand or card in order to gain admission to the lounge and observation deck. A Disney Vacation Club Membership Card is also required to verify Membership.

Parking & Transportation

Parking is only available to those staying at Bay Lake Tower or Disney's Contemporary Resort. Members traveling from other Resorts must use Walt Disney World Transportation.

Upon arrival, Members must walk to the Bay Lake Tower main lobby entrance on the ground floor and check in at the Top of the World Lounge desk in the lobby.

Availability

This special access to Top of the World Lounge is available on a first-come, first-served basis until the lounge reaches capacity. As the lounge is particularly popular during the Magic Kingdom fireworks, arriving as early as possible will give Members the best chance of gaining admission.

Am curious, for those who have a room on the 16th floor can you walk into TOTWL or do you have to go to lobby first?:confused3

We had a lovely 2 bedroom villa on the 16th floor and just walked right into the lounge. We had to have our magic bands specifically coded to allow us access to the 16th floor for our whole stay.

Isn't that fantastic! Our 1 stay at BLT was with friends in a 2 bedroom lockoff on the 16th floor--we spent a lot of time in the lounge because it was so easy to get to! Lol, no one told us how to access the 16th floor to get to our room and we were going up and down in the elevator until we figured it out!

It’s great to be up there during Christmas Wishes. It was 45 degrees and a 20-25 mph wind when I went up there.

It is a nice option! We own (resale) at BLT. Went to TOTW for the first time last April. I appreciated the view, however, we also had a similar view from our balcony. There are drinks and snacks but nothing outstanding. That being said, this April we are staying in a standard studio, and guessing we won't have the view we've had the last 2 years. This will certainly be a nice option!

So, if I'm reading that correctly, as long as we are DVC members and staying at ANY disney owned property, we can go to the lounge. That would be awesome! I was hoping that was the case. I didn't want to be turned away at the door.

Yep, we were staying at FW when we visited.

You'll need your DVC card and picture ID. I believe there is a limit to the number of people who can go up with you.

Yes - I was staying at Coronado the last time I went. They scanned my magic band, and asked for my DVC member ID as well as my actual ID.

Plus you must use Disney transportation to get to BLT. You are not permitted to park your car there to visit the TOTWL unless you are a guest at BLT or CR.
