Top of the World lounge access for local DVC members?

Hi,
I understand the TOTWL is for DVC members...my question is whether you have to be currently staying onsite to utilize? Or as a local can I show my member card to gain access?

The rules state you need to be staying onsite and a DVC member.

"onsite stays only" is the official rule.

Yeah.. They scan your magic band to confirm you are staying at a WDW property.

You know... given the relative number of DVC members that are local at any moment in time, onsite or not; you would think that they would welcome them/us with open arms especially given the mediocre success, at best (And I'm being nice at giving it that!), of the TOTWL.

Just my opinion.

I don't know-- from talking with some of the servers, is seems the place is quite busy.

Apparently things have really changed then. Was it during fireworks? That doesn't count! From what I hear, people are there during fireworks only and even then, they aren't spending any money, at least that's what's always been said.

We were up there our last trip,Dec.2013 and it was relatively empty and it we probably an hour or so before wishes,and then we went to the California Grill for dinner.
