We will be staying at the BLT (1st trip home) in April. Has anyone visted the Top of the World with a child on the spectrum? What was your experience? I'm worried about eye rolling.

Took my seven year old son, who has autism, to Top of the World last summer; no problems at all. Outside, I felt very comfortable. Inside, he was bored, and climbed on the large ottomans; I know I was much more bothered by this than anyone else was.

I can't say enough about WDW and autism acceptance. Our first trip was as if we had finally found home: no need to explain non-typical behavior, CMs so understanding of meltdowns, just perfect.

Another benefit is how kids (well, mine, although I've read of others who responded in the same way) with autism come out of their shell at WDW. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say, our first trip was supposed to be our only trip; after DH and I saw how much our son prospered at WDW, we bought DVC (and added on three months later).

Thanks. We have taken my son many times to Disney, but not the BLT. I am going to try the TOTW for the fireworks.

Same here, I have a 10 year old DS Aspie who does much better at Disney then anywhere else. We bought into DVC when he was 4 , and a big portion of that is from the "break throughs" hes had there.
