So glad they got rid of Mark. I was so sick of watching him taste things and put the utensil right back in the pot/bowl.

All in all though, I'm not liking this season compared to past seasons. No-one acts very professional, everyone is getting bleeped out left and right. Did anyone catch Andrews comment on the very end of last nights episode? I didn't think it was appropriate at all.

Now to get rid of Spike (tired of his lesbian comments) and Andrew.
LGBT side:
I wasn't sorry to see Zoi go. Being self taught, she just didn't have the experience and polish the others have.
Jennifer lost her edge when Zoi was booted off.
Lisa, I'm rooting for her. She kinda outed herself last night. So I'm rooting for her even more.
Dale and Richard, I haven't done much web surfing on them, but I do wonder which team they play on.

Anyone else watching this season?

Oh yeah! Watching it and Re-watching it. Loving it this season after not caring so much about last season.

I agree that Spike needs to go! I think Nikki is also there way past her time.

Can't STAND Lisa. I agree with Dale. She's nothing but negative energy and complains just so that she can hear herself whine.

Right now I think the strongest contenders for the win are Richard, Dale and Stephanie. I'm rooting for all of them.

Not sure whether I like Andrew or not.

Oh, and can I just say that Tom Collichio is HOT!

I am watching this season, I missed last night's episode but looks like I know who got kicked off now :-)

It is tough watching it as I get soooooo hungry at 10pm now

I know I am in the minority, but I don't find Lisa to be negative. I find her to be one of the few with the brass to say what she believes in. And she stands up for herself. I think the talent level was better in the past.

Sorry about the spoiler.

I so should not have opened this!! I knew it too and yet I still did! I tivo'd it and I am watching it tonight.

Sorry about the spoiler.

I hear what you're saying about Lisa, but contrast her with Antonia who also says what she believes, doesn't back down, and typically is much more positive about it. There are ways to be as "strong person" without creating ******* wherever you go. That's what I think Lisa does.

Just my not-so-humble opinion, of course.

The talent level is good this season, but it's consistantly high, so there aren't a lot of "stand-outs" the way there have been in past seasons. It makes it harder for any of them to completely "wow" us, I think.

I've been loving the challenges this season. I love thinking about what I'd do in the same situation. The movie challenge may be my all time favorite. I've spent the past few weeks trying to figure out what kind of dinner course I could create for "Auntie Mame" or "Gone With the Wind". :confused3

I like Top Chef but to me it is a show I can not watch if I miss an episode. And I think it is because that it is food.

With Project Runway, one may not know alot about fashion but at least one can see the designs and say which one they like best.

With Top Chef one of the main factors is how the food tatses and we can't get that at home, so we can only go on what it looks like.

Do you read the blogs on BravoTV? I love them. Ted Allen's blog today responds to the comment you're referring to. He says:

"Great to know, Andy. Somebody hide the pie."

:rotfl2:

We laughed at Andrew last night, because it was such a "What the F***" thing to say, but I think Ted's response made me laugh more.

Ah well, back to the blogs. I'm sure glad that it's a slow day at work . . . ;)

But one thing to keep in mind, we are only seeing what the producers WANT us to see. If you read Tom's blogs even he is complaining about the editing this year. I have also read some articles and heard that Lisa isn't that extreme in real life.

I liked last nights $10 challenge. I thought it really tested the basics knowledge and skills sets. Hmm, will think on your movie themes and see if I come up wiht any ideas.

BTW, I changed the thread title so that there is a spoiler alert for those not up to date.

Even without tasting it, you kind of get a feel for it. Or atleast I do. My palate memory is pretty good, and I usually can tell if I would like a combination. I think my face had the same reactions as Toms with the tomato and peanut butter, kind contorted.

I hadn't read the blogs yet today. GO TED!!!!!

Good point about the editing. But what can you do about that? You have to judge on what you see.

I really liked last night's challenge too. Too often people have to cook with very little money (I know it happens to us frequently. Thankfully we tend to have a well stocked pantry and freezer.)

On the movies, here's what I've come up with. (If you don't know these movies, they might not make the most sense.

For Auntie Mame: A Squid Sashimi cocktail with wasabi sauce and caviar served in a martini glass with an olive on the side as garnish.

For Gone With the Wind: Pan roasted rooster with radish salad. (Not terribly high end, I know, but when you're using the "I shall never go hungry again" scene for inspiration, what are you going to do? :rotfl: )

So, what did we think of last night's episode: "Wedding Wars"?

Scott and I watched it thinking the bride & groom must be OUT OF THEIR MINDS!

I'm stressing because we have less than 5 months to go, and we haven't finalized a menu yet. (We have our tasting on the 19th). I could NOT deal with batting ideas around with cheftestants the DAY BEFORE!:scared1:

And not knowing about the cake until I walked in to see it? OMG! The stress would kill me! :rotfl:

Okay, now that I've gotten that out of my system, on to the actual competition. I'm kind of bummed that they're not doing "restaurant wars" this season, but I do like the wedding challenges as a whole.

I do agree with their decisions on who should win (and very graciously won, I have to say) and who had to pack knives and go (it was past time), Some of that food looked AMAZING. The pulled pork on puff pastry, and the brisket had me drooling.

The cakes both looked like they were done by amateurs (which they were, honestly). People were talking about how nice the wedding cake looked, and my thought was "they've never seen the Disney Wedding Cake CD, then!"

Okay, I've rambled enough. What did everyone else think?

How many more times did we have to hear " I have a culinary......" by Andrew. UGGGHH

Nikki gone, yes past her time. Next on my hit lists, Dale, Spike, Andrew. I would like the top 4 to be Lisa, Antonia, Stephanie and Richard.

Dale complains about Lisa being negative. He is a big spoiled cry baby. Oh big deal your team lost the quickfire. Any reason to become so violent? He is NOT a team player. Andrew seems to be in his own world, umm hello the chicken didn't work on kids, why would it work on wedding guests. I can't remember who it was but they shot down his nugget idea and said coated chicken wont hold up in service.

Personally, I'd rather my cake taste better, then look better. You don't remember mediocre wedding food. I've gone to some pretty good weddings, and off the top of my head, I can only remember one stand out dish....a lamp chop during a cocktail hour (Padalyn, JJ's wedding).

Yeah, Dale was a major cry baby on this episode, and he's not very likeable, but I think he is one of the most talented chefs there this season. (based on past performances, not this on.) I'd like to see a top 4 consisting of Richard, Dale, Antonia & Stephanie. I know you like Lisa, but she's frequentlly on the chopping block, and often for underseasoned food. And if one of the chefs was serving guests at our wedding in a nasty looking baby blue bandana as a "do-rag" I'd be livid. I think she and Spike both need to be gone about three weeks ago. Andrew, I'm still on the fence about. The chicken was actually a big hit with the kids and the judges last week, he just didn't actually WIN the competition that week. He missed his mark this week, but so did several others.

Did we watch the same episode? More then once comments were made (Tom) about the chicken not working this or past weeks.

A getting a bit personal with last nights episode, are we? Personally if my wedding food was FREE and tasted pretty good to good, and I disagree I didn't think the cakes looked that bad, all things considered (grooms specific requests, grooms likes, non pastry chefs, etc..) I'd be pretty happy.

Not enough people in food service wear the required/appropriate head gear. I actually liked the fact that Lisa covers her head. One less persons hair in my food.

He was in the top 3 last week for the kids challenge! (I think. I'll have to go back and check) Gail and the guest judge raved about his dish in their blogs.

I think Tom was talking about how he shouldn't have served the same thing twice in a row, because it didn't work this time out.

You're darn tootin, I'm getting personal about it. This challenge hits close to home as we plan for our wedding. Each of us views everything from our own unique perspective, and that's why we each have different opinions. That's the great thing about a show like this, it allows us a personal involvement. And the great thing about this board, is that we can all discuss our opinions in a friendly envirnonment!

Woo-Hoo just caught up with the last 2 weeks episodes. :thumbsup2

Only one more on my hit list to go.

Well I for one am happy with the final four.

Peanut Butter Mashed Potatos.....that one I'm going to have to try. As Wendell Porcupine would say "you got mashed potatos".
