Top Chef All Stars starts 12/1/10! No ADVANCE Spoilers!

I really like most of the chef's left. It's getting hard to watch them getting kicked off.
I did not like the quickfire guest judge, Isaac Mizrahi. I didn't really think what Angelo did was all that bad.

I don't think Isaac Mizrahi appreciated Angelo saying his favorite designer was Roberto Cavalli, lol.

We were cringing---Angelo painted the word "crocodile" on the table....but he spelled it wrong! :sad2:

Yeah, Angelo is still too cocky for his own good - those were both silly moves.

Honestly, I thought Mike was going home. Italian, continuing to remind people of that, making homemade rigatoni (okay, good effort), and then not being able to cook it - and calling it "a little al dente"? Really?

Well I thought Dale was going and DH thought Mike was going...so much for our ESP powers....

Got a good chuckle when Angelo spelled crocodile wrong in the quickfire and then mentioned another designer??? :confused3

Sad to see Trey go, he seemed nice and was very easy on the eyes:banana:

BTW - Is Padma pregnant again? She looked like she had a "bump" Not sure if that was the case or just how the yellow dress fit. Even DH said something.

I think if Tre had only made the risotto too thick, he would have been fine, and Dale would have went home. But Tre didn't cook the rice (them main part of it) correctly, and that is what sent him home.

I was also cringing when Angelo had painted "Crocadile" on the table. :scared1:

As to Antonia, I think she is far more cocky than any of the boys. After she won last night I turned to DW and said, "Excuse me while I go jump off the roof." I'm ready for her, and her mouth, to head home. :headache:

I think most of them were upset that Antonia won by making her dish- they all tried to go complicated and she kind of went for simple. I don't care for her too much either.

Well, they fooled me with the editing last night. I really thought Mike was going home. He got so much air time last night, I was sure of it.

Then, Tom said about the pasta being so yellow. I noticed that when it was coming out of the kitchenaid, though I didn't know that too many eggs would make it so tough. I guess that makes sense.

I was hoping Tiffany's polenta would have won after the guys were trash-talking it because she didn't have much to do when they got to Rao's. However, Fabio was truly robbed.

Me too, this was one of the rare cases where they didn't let yousee it coming. Of the ones up for elimination I didn't think for a moment, Tre was going. BUT an Italian did go home. Ihe "black Italian" (in his words).

I wonder if risotto is one of those "Kiss of death" dishes. Like pasta salad. Everyone on Top Chef, ends up going home when they make pasta salad. I could have sworn someone else was sent home for making risotto incorrectly. :scratchin As soon as Tre had said he was making risotto, I knew that was a risky dish.

There is a Brazilian restaurant here which serves this clams appetizer made with steamed clams in a clam juice broth, white wine, minced garlic and some spices that I wish I knew what they were, because I'd make it at home all the time. It is so simple, but that clam broth is out of this world. We usually take baskets of bread and simply sop up all the clam broth & garlic and stuff ourselves with it. Something can be made very simply, but if you it the right ingredients, it can be out of this world.

I was actually shocked that Antonia won-- didn't see it coming at all. Wish Fabio had won. Also a bit surprised that Tre got kicked off- they were definitely setting up Mike and Dale with the editing.
Ready for Mike, Antonia, and Angelo to kick it. Not a fan of any of them-- seems like they all have such bad attitudes.
I agreed with whoever said it-- Angelo's quickfire looked like a bag of vomit!

I was surprised that Fabio lost. I also thought Richard would be in the top three--didn't a few people at the table say his dish was their favorite? :confused3

It was nice to see, though, the lovefest (OK, at least the "respect fest") between Fabio and Bourdain! I also got the feeling that Fabio lost because they expected it from him - he didn't push the envelope.

I did love his comment - "mussels, fennel, basil - that's French!" And it was said with good humor.

I've never been a Trey fan. He always seemed so cocky, but without the food to back it up.

Really?? He always seemed so mild-mannered to me. Like a big teddy bear. I was bummed that he got the boot. Dale annoys me.

I thought Fabio got robbed ;)

I was also stunned when they annouced Antonia as the winner. I thought for sure it would be Fabio. It also seemed weird to me that there was a top four, a bottom three, and two guys completely left out. LOL.

I'm not an Isaac Mizrahi fan. I think he's sickeningly arrogant. And I thought it was a stupid challenge. Telling a chef to make something but expecting them not to care how it tastes is silly. I thought Carla should have won that, because I loved the way her plate looked.

I agree with Carla should ahve won. When I saw Richard's it made me feel a little ill it didn't look appetizing it reminded me of like cigerette ash or something from a crater on the moon.

Ooo hey! I have that exact fondue pot! It's AWESOME! I just bought one for my SIL for her BD. YUM!

I like the idea of more sophisticated fondue sauces. :thumbsup2

Have you ever been to "The Melting Pot" or a really nice fondue joint like that? :cloud9: It's not cheap or fast but it really takes fondue to new heights. MMMMMMM The Melting Pot has a cookbook out now w/ their recipies and from personal trying a few in there already, I can say it's REALLY good. I'm pretty picky too. :thumbsup2
