Top Chef All Stars starts 12/1/10! No ADVANCE Spoilers!

:thumbsup2

I bet Richard picks him to work with him as he was his bro-mate. Unless, Mike purposely picks him to screw him up. :sad2:

I'm hoping that, if they chose who they want, Richard gets first pick since he was the winner last night. I know they didn't announce him as the winner but he was immediately in the finale while Mike had to work for it. If it's a knife selection in picking the teams next week, I hope the fates see that Fabio selects Richard's team!

That was pretty intense last night. Soooooo glad that Richard found his groove again. I hope he stays in that groove through the last challenge. His plate looked beautiful and definitely had a few signaure Richard-isms - loved that ... what was it... sour cream? It looked like he used liquid nitrogen to freeze it and then broke it apart. I could have crawled through the screen to get to that strudel! :lovestruc

I was hoping for Antonia but, considering her meal received quite a few negative comments plus then her one-bite was way too spicy, I figured she hadn't pulled it off.

Ahh, well. I certainly hope Richard wipes the floor with Mike next week.

Yes, with all the pressure of the last few weeks, it looked like Richard was headed for a breakdown - especially if he was sent home.

I hope he wins, too! :yay:

Antonia had been growing on me. Bummer that she overspiced both dishes. This will make it even sweeter to see Richard kick Mike's butt :cool1:.

I love what he said, he would cry either way at the end!

Who the heck was that extra woman at the judge's table, next to Gail, and why was she there? :confused3
She's a friend of Gail Simmons, Melanie Dunea. She's a photographer and author of a photo essay book called My Last Supper, about famous chefs and what their last meal would be.

Pulling for Blaise all the way!! I will be SO upset if Mike wins-- as upset as I was when Hosea won!

Wasn't that the author Melanie Dunea? She wrote "My Last Supper: 50 Great Chefs and Their Final Meals".

ETA: I see Lexi beat me to it :).

Team Richard all the way!!!!

Antonia was growing on me. I didn't like how Mike "picked" on her...

Richard really goofed (as he said) in the quick fire - he should have given Mike the one handed challenge - would have loved to see him open his pressure cooker with only one hand.

It was great seeing Carla again - I miss her.

Do you mean the woman that they said wrote the book My Last Supper? I think that book may have been the inspiration for the challenge.

Am I the only one who cannot *stand* Gail Simmons? Ack ack and double ack. She is *so* mealy-mouthed and I swear that woman comes across as not being able to boil water (yeah, yeah trained at Le Cirque2000 and Vong, worked for Vogue's Jeffrey Steingarten, got her college degree in anthropology and Spanish :scratchin ...). I suppose it's her tenure at FOOD & WINE (not as The Editor but actually as "Special Projects Manager/Director") but she just drives me crazy. When she doesn't like a dish (or a chef for that matter) she angrily minces her words with a look of...?....well, it's as if she's smelling garbage at the Judge's table. I wasn't that fond of Toby, but I'd rather have him back to completely replace her.

I missed the show last night but couldn't help myself and read who made it to the finale....will NOT miss that episode!

agnes!

I'm a guy, so, to me, Gail Simmons brings things to the table (2 actually), that make her presence enjoyable. ;)

Said the exact same thing to my DW while we were watching. On top of the fact they kept having trouble opening it with two hands.

Mike would be a fool to pick Fabio. And I say that because -

He knows Fabio and Richard are bro-mates. He needs the chefs that he picks, if they get to choose and it's not luck of the draw, on his side. While Fabio wouldn't intentionally screw up a dish, he also doesn't have to put forth his best effort. If I were Mike, I would be looking over my shoulder and double, triple checking everything Fabio was doing for my dishes, which would cut dwn on the time I would have to take care of those things that I am personally doing.

Leaving Fabio and Richard to work together is better for Mike. Everything that Fabio and the other chefs do, when all is said and done, if reflected back to Richard. Any mistake - small as it might be - would be a negative against Richard. Fabio and Richard being bro-mates puts that much pressure on Fabio to make sure everything is perfect and then some.

I agree. Richard seems to have self-loathing, not just dissatisfaction, in a very bad way.

It still seems so fake to me. He hates what he makes, but is stunned when he loses.

Ha. I like Gail a lot more than I like Padma.

Here's what I don't get. That whole envelope thing confused me. The way it was edited, it appears that the one-bite challenge was the sole determining factor in who went to the finale and who got sent home. So what would they have done if one of them had COMPLETELY screwed up the last supper dish??

In any event, I think Antonia had a much harder challenge than either Richard or Mike. I'm bummed by the outcome.

Please don't let Mike win. He's just so arrogant. I've always liked Blaise/Richard and I'm in his corner again.

Dig dong the witch is gone :cool1::cool1::cool1:

I seem to be the only one who viewed Antonio this way but she seems like a real witch - the private discussions with camera are never flattering - way too much "mean girl" behavior.

I thought the last bite was overkill. Someone had a bad reaction to the saltiness of her soup - most negative reactions on the panel. Mike though.... in the finale after stealing a recipe seems very very wrong :sad2:

Pulling for Richard to win it all... really hoping having all those previous competitors in the way won't throw him off.

When Carla came back what a trooper - she is the real Top Chef of this season IMO - woohootie!

Eh-I think Mike deserves to be in the finale over Antonia. I definitely want Richard to win.
