Top Chef All Stars starts 12/1/10! No ADVANCE Spoilers!

They also said Marcel has a thing about foam, too.

True. Marcel did instigate that only one dish for the team BS. Maybe the foam was his idea and Richard just said OK. BTW - I kept wondering why on earth Richard would just go along with Marcel's idea? Dear lord, man, haven't you learned what happens to chefs who blindly follow along?!?!

I see. I have not seen the last 3 shows, maybe I will catch them on a Saturday marathon. By the way my wife makes fun of me for watching Top Chef, she does not get it. L&G's Dad.

:grouphug: You can have your Top Chef family here.

I pretty much usually only post to the TV show threads. (I have no life, I admit it. ) It's a place where we can get all snarly and snarky - about the characters or contestants - and have a great time with each other here agreeing & disagreeing with each other. :hyper2: I usually don't talk about the shows in real life.

Or, for example, a couple of seasons ago, TVGuide had two blurbs about an upcoming episode of Top Chef. One listed the four Cheftestants we all knew were going into that semi-final episode; but the actual listing for the show named the three finalists.

So while I knew (not by choice) who the final three would be, I knew not to post it AND to warn everyone in that thread not to read TV Guide that week ;)

Can you PM it to me- I love the spoilers!!!:worship:

Also, why have a team challenge if 1. you don't want them to make one collaborative dish and 2. you believe that the best dish was made by a chef on a losing team? Even if they work as a team, the judges should judge them individually. While I'm certainly not sad that Carla won :yay: it would have been more fair to put her dish up against Antonia's if they were both the best ones prepared. It's not like Antonia got to choose her teammates.
It's always been that way. You can't win if you're on a losing team even if you made the best dish, and you can't get sent home if you're on a winning team even if you didn't do a thing.

I think Tom did say that, had she not had a hand in the other dish(es) from her team, she could have won. Maybe if she wouldn't have even helped Jamie or Tiffany with their dishes, they would have split her away from her team. But not helping your teammates goes against the Team Challenge concept. :confused3
No, Tom said that if she had been on a different team, she might well have won. It had nothing to do with her having or not having a hand in the others' dishes.

::yes::

I wonder if Richard agreed to it because they would be safe if the dish was good, and if it was bad, Marcel would get the blame. I thought the foam was Marcel's creation?

Last night's episode was a good one to watch, felt like their old episodes where the challenge was fun and they all cooked. VERY disappointed by one of the two contestants let go. You know who I am talking about and she is truly talented, though the other contestant was a pleasure to see go home. About darn time!

I enjoyed last night's episode a lot. The first part of the challenge was a lot of fun to watch (the fishing), but I was confused as to what they'd do if the teams didn't catch any fish- ??

Marcel hadn't bothered me much until last night either. That whole shpiel he did on the rooftop deck toward Dale was so bothersome and he acted like a major tool. A MAJOR TOOL I SAY! And his obsession with foam has to stop. He has only made like 3 foams that they said tasted good in his career with Top Chef..it's like Jamie and her scallops obsession..it never works!!

The segue's they do during commercials are hilarious and last night's was funny as heck. What type of fish are some of your teammates most similar to? Dale's answer was too funny!!
:rotfl:

GO BLAIS!! :cheer2:

IZMADI- ME TOO! If you look at my posts they are more on the TV threads here than trips and stuff. THOUGH I love the PTRs I follow! ;)

My DH didn't get it the first few that I watched. Then they were cooking using a meat that he really likes, so he sat and really watched what they were doing and since then, he likes the show as much as I do.

It is fun to come here and talk about our favorite shows with all the posters. We may not agree on many aspects of the shows and their outcomes, but all is good and if anybody rubs you the wrong way, just slap them on ignore and keep posting away.

The timing of the show was odd too. They woke up at 4:30am and then DROVE to Montauk?? That's a 2 1/2-3 hour drive at best...then they arrived at what looked like just after sunrise (judging by the sun angle when they met Padma) and spent a few hours fishing AND had time to hit the farmer's market (which I have been to...it's great), then drove home and had time to prep and cook??

They also said Marcel has a thing about foam, too.

In Marcel's season, I think he did a foam or a gelee as part of almost every dish he made. There were many comments from the judges on that season about how he often went too far and put stuff on the plate that didn't belong. He seems to try to make things complicated just for the sake of being able to say he made a complex dish. That's why I prefer chefs like Carla or Kevin(the one from the season with the Voltaggios). They focus on making food that tastes good.

Is there a Top Chef thread that has spoilers?

I was happy to see Jamie go home. I think she has been the weakest this season. I am torn on Tiffany though. I liked her in season one but I fee like she is not as good this season.

Marcel gets on my last nerve, he has since his season. His hig and mighty attitude needs to go and STOP making foams. The judges seem to never like them.

I was so glad to see Jamie go. I liked Tiffany alot better this season. She wasn't as abrasive. She herself admitted she lightened up. I think Richard was really really worried. You could see it in his eyes. How funny are Fabio and Richard. Funny bromance. They would be great together on a show or in a restaurant.

Has anyone been to Richards restaurant Flip Burger?? It was featued on the 10 best burger places in the nation. Looked awesome.

::yes::

That's exactly what I thought!

I'm glad they all caught enough fish to work with! Glad Jamie finally went home. Marcel certainly showed his true colors, didn't he? Yikes. I like Carla and I'm glad she got the win! :goodvibes

And whats with Marcel trying to act all gangsta?? He sounds ridiculous. He is very lucky someone doesn't show him the error of his ways.

Compared to his first season, I was beginning to like Marcel.

Until last night.

I was so glad Jamie went home.

No, Tom said that if she had been on a different team, she might well have won. It had nothing to do with her having or not having a hand in the others' dishes.

Tom did say, if Antonia had helped out her teammates, they might not have been facing the judges. Then Jamie would have slid by for another week. :headache:

As much as I think Tiffani was a far better chef and could have gone farther if Antonia had mentioned about the vein, I'd rather she take the hit, since it knocked out Jamie, too.

That is what was bothering me from last night's episode. What was that all about, and he looked so uncomfortable talking that way. Tre must've been like what is this tool talking about? LOL

I think he was drunk and it made Marcel's true colors come out.

See ya Jamie!

Enough with the team challenges! I'm really surprised that, on a show that is supposed to be "all-star", every challenge has been team oriented which I think doesn't showcase the chefs abilities as well. I know that the next one is restaurant wars which can be interesting, but once again, someone won't be cooking and will be judged on essentially waiting tables! These people are chefs for crying out loud - it's not Top Wait Staff!

And Carla is really kicking rear this season - I don't remember her being as good last time she was on, do you?
