First trip to WDW since 1979! I'm going in March with my two boys, ages 5 and 6, and my hubby. I would love for you to share the top 5 places you think we should eat and make recs for what meal to have there... bfast? lunch? dinner? We just decided to head there, and I know nothing about the restaurants! Thanks in advance.

Hi! Welcome to the Dis!

The first thing you might want to do is check out the menus on allearsnet.com VERY HELPFUL! They have every single eatery listed on it with prices too :thumbsup2

We just returned from another magical trip with our 2 girls (ages 8 and 5)...
Some of our personal favorite Table Service Meals are:

*Tusker House (lunch buffet)
*Cinderella's Royal table Breakfast
*Chef Mickey's (My girls like it for the characters-DH and I could skip this one!! LOL! :rotfl: as the food is not that great)
*Cape May Cafe breakfast @ the Beach Club
*Le Cellier....We've eaten twice in the past 2 yrs and were not disappointed either time! (lunch or dinner)
*Kona @ the Polynesian :) (Dinner)

Happy planning and enjoy your trip!!! :)

Definitely go to allears and review all the menus. Our top 5 family favs:

1. Ohana's character breakfast 2. Garden Grill @ Epcot 3. Whispering Canyon Cafe 4. Coral Reef @ Epcot 5. Cape May character breakfast

1. Le Cellier- the absolute best
2. California Grill- during MK fireworks is beautiful
3. 50's Prime Time Cafe
4. Whispering Canyon
5. O'hana's for dinner

Of course, food is very subjective, but our kids enjoyed all of these, too.

The Disboards are great - you've come to the right place for advice! The suggestions you've received so far are great and all are very popular places. I haven't been to all of the restaurants mentioned so I'll only comment on the ones I know. Since you have boys, they may not be crazy about any of the Princess theme dinners (Cinderella's Royal Table, 1900 Park Fare dinner). But...

1. If they like Mickey (!) then Chef Mickey's is a must. The food is "okay" and the character interaction is great. You'll get your pictures and autographs out of the way and everyone will feel like they've "met" the Big Cheese :)

2. Crystal Palace is fun and we've always enjoyed the food (nice salads, salmon and prime rib..oh yeah, and AWESOME desserts). The characters are Pooh and friends. I think you'll like it. We've only done dinner here but lot's of people love the breakfast and make an early reservation so they can be in the park when it's empty. I can see the magic in that!::yes::

3. O'hana is also a fun, family place located inside the Polynesian resort. The food is good and there's plenty of it. It's best for a meat lover, although they do have good shrimp skewers too. All is served to you family-style. A singer with a ukulele leads the kid in coconut races and hula lessons. My kids loved her.

4. Boma for breakfast or dinner. The buffet is fun and a little different. The resort is really great to explore before or after your meal.

As for the others that we've tried the ones that stand out are: Coral Reef - great atmosphere and food but a little pricey. Tutto Italia: we liked the food but the kids were bored. Also a little pricey. Kona Cafe: good food, great desserts and the Poly is nice to visit. Hollywood and Vine Playhouse Disney buffet: we always like the food here but some don't. I'd go here for sure if you have Little Einsteins or Jojo fans. Sci Fi dine-in is really fun because you eat in a car at a "drive-in". The food is only so-so.

BTW Our favorite counter service in the Magic Kingdom is Columbia Harbor House. Like others have said, check out the menus online. Have a great trip!

We're big fans of character meals. My son loves Lilo & Stitch, so we love the Ohana character breakfast. They only have characters during breakfast. Also love Chef Mickeys. I love the mac n cheese and mashed potatoes. Some people say it is loud, but I never thought it was too loud. Its very Disneyish and fun. My 11 yr old niece's favorite restaurant is Crystal Palace. She loves the Pooh characters and the food is really good there.

We usually book a late lunch and make it the big meal of the day, since lunch prices are cheaper.

allears.net has all the menus and I have scrutinized them for my upcoming trip.
My top 5 faves are:
Le Cellier (I went twice my last trip!)
Kona Cafe (dinner, the bread and the tuna oscar are AMAZING!!!)
Boma (breakfast or dinner)
Liberty Tree Tavern (dinner, the food and the characters are great!)
Cosmic Rays (lunch or dinner, great selection)

Breakfast - Ohana and Cape May. Awesome food and tons of fun for the kids

Dinner - Beirgarten, 50's Prime Time, awesome food and fun for the kids

welcome to disboards! my suggestlons for a family with younger children:

Kona
Boma

both are good restaurants and the hotels are lots of fun to walk around and explore after dinner

Biergarten - good buffet, good music and very kid friendly

Chef Mickey for interaction with characters

Prime Time - fun and again, food kids would like and reasonably priced:thumbsup2

have a great time!

Here are some of our faves!!!

Crystal Palace for breakfast. Try to get a first seating ADR. You get in before the park opens and can get some wonderful pictures of the castle without tons of people in it. Good food, great atmosphere! A must do for us. And who doesn't love Pooh??? :)

Biergarten. YUM YUM YUM! Food is great, CMs are friendly and the band is tons of fun to listen to.

50's Primetime Cafe. Lots of fun, especially for adults who "get" the jokes. I would explain to kids how life was in the 50's. It will help them get ito the fun!

And we love Kona Cafe too. We have only been there for lunch but enjoyed it very much.

For a great CS meal we like Pecos Bills at the MK and my son LOVES Pizza Planet at DHS.

I hope you have a wonderful vacation!!!!

Chef Mickey´s breakfast
Crystal Palace dinner
Sci Fi lunch
Boma dinner
Coral Reef lunch

These are two of my absolute favorite restaurants: :)

-Spoodles (breakfast) Love the Mickey Pancakes!( I'm such a child at heart!:rotfl: )

-Liberty Tree Tavern (late lunch) Everything is delicious!

Have a great trip!:wizard:

We also have two boys (6 and 2). Here are our favorites:
*Whispering Canyon Cafe-stick pony rides, silly antics of the wait staff. Ask for ketchup! (and the BBQ is wonderful, and the kids don't have to eat the same nuggets).
*OHana-Again, tons of food, hula hoop contests, coconut sweeping races.
*Tusker House breakfast-Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Pluto in safari gear. Tons of choices.
*Biregarten-music, dancing, beer...
*50's Diner-silly antics making kids finish their plates, take off hats, use manners, etc. Get the pot roast!!

There are tons of other counter services that are great too! We always do the dining plan so we can sit down one meal a day and relax and try some places we wouldn't probably be able to afford to go to!

Owww, a favorite subject. Hubby & I are king & queen of recommending dinning to friends, families and co workers for trips. I have every menu printed from allears in a binder. We loan it out for trip planning for people. LOL.... obsessed I tell ya!! :rotfl:

O'Hana - (dinner) all time #1 favorite place to eat for us. The food is the best and all you can eat. Shrimp, cheesy taters and bread pudding are the faves. The coconut racing & hula lessons should keep everyone entertained and there is a gorgeous view out the window over the lake. Check out the Poly while you're there, if it's getting dark early, you can see "Wishes" from there too!

Whispering Canyon - (dinner) Again, fantastic food and plenty of it. Our favorite meal is the "skillet" where you share tons of things. Look at the menu and check out people's pictures on here. Yummo!! You get to check out another resort for fun, you can ride the boat over there from the Magic Kingdom or from the Contemporary (Ride the monorail to the Contemporary) Just allow time for all that, lots of fun if you have an "off" day. Just for something to do. Crazy place that caters to fun for the family!!

Sci-Fi - (lunch or dinner) Another favorite, we just love it. The food is good, not as good as mentioned above, but good and reasonable. Plenty of choices. The atmosphere is to fun and everyone, any age should enjoy!

Crystal Palace - (b,l,d) We have only done lunch & dinner there, we're not big breakfast eaters. I love the suggestion to go for first time though and get in parks early, have castle shots to yourself. I may have to do that sometime. The buffet is great for lunch & dinner, I hear the same is so for breakfast. I personally *yeah yeah I'm 33* love the Pooh friends in there. It's fun, personal attention from them...

Can I say 6 please??

Liberty Tree - (dinner) Fantastic food. Plenty of it and all you want. The characters there are also super and you have plenty of time for some personal attention with them.

Olivia's - (lunch or dinner) Fantastic food. The crab cakes are the best ever, love the steak and there are those cheesy potatoes again. YUMMMM... It's at the Old Key West Resort and we're just suckers for checking out other resorts. It's not usually crowded, we usually get reservations, but often I make them that morning or the day before. No "entertainment", but a great family friendly atmosphere.

Ok, I have to do one more..... Sorry...

The Plaza - (lunch or dinner) Fantastic food on the quickie side. The club sandwich is my favorite, my hubby likes hamburgers and even got peanut butter & jelly one time. (No kidding, he eats those at home all the time!) It's a really neat place to be during Spectro Magic too!! You don't get direct views, but you can see in between stuff. It's very reasonable, now it seems you need ressies. We use to walk in. The chocolate shakes are to die for!!!!

Have fun and eat up!! Planning our meals is half our fun!!

Honorable Mention to our faves: Mama Melrose's, Biergarten, Boatrights, Rainforest and Pop Century food court is our favorite food court.
