So NOTHING is on TV tonight and I've invested two and a half hours on hours 3, 2 and now 1. I remember being really disappointed in the 100 One Hit Wonders shows - I think I waited up extra late to see number 1 and then it was the Macarena or something equally idiotic. I know I felt really cheated.

So what's the number 1 going to be on this? You have 40 minutes to vote - no cheating and looking it up!!

I cheated and had to look.

and um

I wouldn't call that THE top song of the 80's(but I was an wlir girl from Long Island-)
I would have guessed Madonna though and would have been dead wrong.

Number 4 - Billie Jean. So sad to hear them speak of Michael Jackson in the presnt tense...

I thought it was number 5 but I must have been paying less attention than I thought!! Who knows what number 5 was...

#5 When Dove's Cry Prince

Ah, yes.

Number 3 - Hungry Like the Wolf. Remember that Farrah Fawcett movie when she played the crazy woman who shot her kids in the car? And in the big trial scene they played this song because her daughter had testified she played it while she shot them, and Farrah danced in her chair? Amazing what I remember...:rotfl:

Number 2 - Pour Some Sugar on Me...love it!

Ah, yes - Bon Jovi's Livin' on a Prayer. I agree, not my choice for Number 1, either.

Well, that was fun...

I love that song.

Me, too!!

PS - What kind of girl were you? I don't know if wlir is a typo or just something a Southern girl wouldn't understand!!!

Sorry WLIR was a radio station from Long Island an "alternative" station. I was into bands like the Cure, yet also ABC:rotfl2: And I did enjoy Purple Rain.
I spent my teens and early 20's hitting the "punk" type clubs which is pretty funny now.
If you have Satelite radio I was into all the kind of stuff they play on First Wave Channel 22.

Ah, thanks for solving that!! I thought it was Long Island something but I just couldn't figure it out...:rotfl:

Would this be the same list that had a bad Hall & Oates song as #6?

I remember watching three hours of either this show or one very much like it and being all manner of pissed off about the Hall & Oates song (it wasn't even their best one) and the choice for #1.

Living on a Prayer? Seriously? It wasn't even the best song on that album.

But that is what you get for wasting three hours of your life on mindless TV, I suppose. :headache::headache::headache:

Is this one of those shows where some b-list celebrities chatter endlessly throughout the show? I would watch these but I want to hear the songs!

I like Living On A Prayer. It's not the best for me but it's not bad.

I forgot to give my vote.

"You Shook Me All Night Long" is my favorite from the 80s. And 90s. I doubt anything will come along in the next year or so that is any better, either, so it will be better than all the songs this decade, as well.

2nd place: Don't Worry, Be Happy. (j/k :) )

Have not looked at any other posts...

My guess is Def Leppard "Pour Some Sugar On Me"

My mom was driving me nuts about my wedding(1990) down to every detail. She wanted to know the "first dance" song. Bugging me to the point- that we picked her up to go out. I told her we had picked our song.
She was anxious to hear it.
We popped in the cd.

And yes it was You Shook Me All Night Long.:rotfl2:

Best part was her reaction "Oh.........won't that be hard to dance to?":rotfl2:

I've watched this a couple times, so I knew what the answer was... I thought it was a good choice. You're right though... there was NOTHING on last night!

After working 40+ hours a week every week, I don't consider watching a show about music I like "wasting three hours of my life on mindless TV".
