too skinny for RnR

DS is tall enough, but very skinny. I'm worried that he may be too skinny for the restraint to work properly. Anyone with experience getting a very skinny child on RnR? Anyone with an "engineering analysis" regarding whether skinny kids could slip out of the restraint? I haven't been on it for a while, but if it is probably OK for DS then I'll gobble down the ginger capsules and go with him to check his restraint myself. Can I ask a CM to check too? Are any CMs(maybe a supervisor type) trained to not just pull and ensure the restraint is locked, but too look at a guest in the restraint and say, "Sorry, this just won't work safely?" Then, of course, might they say to me who is the opposite of skinny that I can't fit the restraint either

I have wondered this same thing my dd is very skinny as well. Would love to know if you may not be allowed to ride due to this.

The restraints will work fine. I can't believe even a very thin person would slip through. If he's tall enough to ride RNR, then the restraint fits over his shoulders and keeps him in the seat.

And you don't have to worry about your son falling out on the inversions....in this case gravity is our friend.....the harnesses are really only there to keep people from getting up and, in the case where the ride would be stopped(although I believe it is impossible to stop upside down, enrgy, motion, blah blah blah) to keep you from falling out.

My DD was a premie, and at age 12 is still extremely petite - she rode RnR for the last 2 years - not a problem with the restraints. The come down over your shoulders and across your body.

My dd (9.5 yrs old) rode RNRC last year and she is very thin and petite. She just makes the height restriction and she wears a little girls size 5 waist pants. If she is restrained by the harness then I believe that most people will be. Realize that the harness is a "U" shape and it also has handles on it to hold while the ride is going. For a person to fall out they would have to come down under the harness which just doesn't seem likely unless that was what the person was trying to do (which would be just dumb and dangerous.)

I think that your ds will be ok.

I don't think anyone is going to slip through those restraints. When my DD first rode she was 48" and less than 40 pounds and there was no way she could have fallen out.

sigh, to have that problem sigh... glad this was a bout a child since my first thought was "oh wah wah wah ".... envy rears it's ugly head :rotfl:

i thought they just kept pulling down till you stopped them so it would still be tighter...plus if i remember right they have grip handles on the restraints i think so an older child could hold on..i'm sure since some littler kids ride they would know if it's safe or not but i'd ask just for your own piece of mind when you get there.

Since he is tall... I highly doubt, apart from some weird rubbery legs that your DS body would contort enough to fall out. As stated above, the retraints are to prevent people from getting out of the ride, upside down rides (corkscrew), gravity works for you, pushing you into your seat.

I am the world's biggest worrier~(is that even a word? :scratchin )~when it comes to my kids riding any ride. I personally check each of their restraints before I sit down....(sorry to all those people behind us waiting on me  ). But, my kids have all been fine on rides and I just simply waist my time and energy on worrying for nothing. :confused3 Your son will be fine as well.

Did your dd ride Space Mountain? My dd is about 45-46" tall, but she is a wisp of a girl at under 40 lbs. I'm worried about her being thrown around on Space Mountain, especially since I can't sit with her.

Was actually thinking DS might slip out of bottom or side since I don't remember a seat belt that might prevent lateral movement or submarining. I've got 2 engineering degrees but when you throw the mommy worry factor in there it blurs the logic and the neighborhood doesn't call me Safety Queen for nothing :rotfl2: Enough of you have put skinny kids on RnR that my concerns must be a figment of my imagination - oops, wrong park.

About SpaceMtn, both my kids have been on it and loved it. DD is barely tall enough though a bit sturdier than DS but can't remember being thrown around at all. DD and DS do slide around on BTMRR. DD complains mildly but still wants to go again. We've ridden everything with 44" and under height requirements with both kids in January, so ask away with your ?s or PM me. In summary, they loved it all except mild complaints by DD on BTMRR and DD didn't really like or dislike ToT.

I rode RnR last summer with my DD who was 7 at the time. She was just barely tall enough but I wasn't worried at all until we sat down in the ride and I saw how tiny she was in the seat. I had a mini-panic attack and begged her to hold on tight. She was fine but I had a miserable ride because I couldn't see her or hold on to her because of the the huge overhead restraint.

My youngest daughter has been riding R n R since she was 7 and barely tall enough to make the height requirement . . . she is of normal height for her age but about 5% in weight -- really skinny. She has no problem staying in. As a previous poster noted, in addition to the shoulder restraints you actually have physics working on your side to keep you in the seat.
