Too loud!

I wonder whether the WDW powers-that-be ever read these boards because if they do, they have to notice that many guests complain about the noise level in WDW restaurants.

Really, it's something commonly mentioned, and one thing I think they could do about it is to put carpeting in some restaurants. I guess most restaurants have bare floors because of spillage, but really carpeting absorbs a lot of noise.

So if you're reading this, Disney, please put some carpeting down in your restaurants. They're too noisy, and we want to relax.

I agree Janice! Most of the WDW eateries would be much more pleasant with something covering the hard surfaces of the floors/ceiling/walls. We've been to Boma when a child shrieked at the top of their lungs which reverberated around the restaurant. Nothing Disney can do about the kids, but they could control the sound environment better. I can understand that carpets could be impossible to maintain, but they could treat the walls and ceiling.

Being young and hard of hearing, I wish the noise level was less. It is hard enough for me to hear as it is.

There are some very high tech carpets out there nowadays that don't stain so easily. They use it in casinos, which I imagine are very messy places.

I'm in your group.
When you have toddlers you just naturally tune out some of the noise.
So disney resturants don't seem any more noisy than your used to as is.


By the way Janice, if your from Bergen, Norway, your right it is a beautiful place.

I agree. We use the noise as cover for our children, who appear to have been born without inside voices.

Jokes aside, I did find many of the restaurants exceptionally loud, and wouldn't mind if they found a way to integrate sound dampening features into the walls or flooring, but it wasn't a huge deal for us.

They might keep it noisy intentionally. People tend not to linger in noisy establishments, so they can run more guests through the restaurants in a night.

I hate to say it, but I agree! We were at Disney over Easter with our 12 yo and 3 1/2 yo and were doing the ddp and sooo excited to have some nice dinners, but found most places we ate to be waaaay to loud! We have a small child also, but do not allow her to be out of control in a restaurant- even on vacation! We thought the worst for noise were Tonys ( i ended up with a headache) and Coral Reef! The best was Kona, though it was loud also! Next time we may forego the ddp d/t the restaurants being sooooo over-crowded and noisy!

2) Lots of people who normally would not eat at better restaurants now go.
3) They bring lots of noise from kids (and adults), not to mention dress.
4) Sorry, but it was a lot different before wide-spread DDP.

I'd really bet they have "something" in place to dampen the noise, but it's well themed or hidden so you don't notice it. I will agree that it isn't enough though. I expect Pop's food court to be noisy, as well as other places where there's a billion kids, but it would be nice it they weren't, same thing with the sit down restaurants. I'm fairly soft spoken (volume wise at least ) and I feel like I'm shouting most of the time!

I never really noticed this until i started traveling with my ds who has mild autism and is very noise sensitive. Now I find it really bothers me too. We try to book spots at uncrowded times to help. Obviously this doesn't always work in real life!

^ A little harsh, but absolutely true.

It amazes me how some "adults" are just blissfully unaware that their precious little ones are screaming at the tops of their lungs and running around the restaurant like rabid jackrabbits.

The utter disregard for other park guests trying to enjoy their meals is something that gets worse year by year.

This is not the fault of the children. This is the fault of the parents who live in the "hooray for me, and to heck with you" generation.

It's a sad reflection.

Poor people can have well behaved children too. My daughter is a year old and is randomly loud, not much I can do about it, whether or not I pay for DDP out of pocket or get it free
