I had my daughter put stamps on some bills and put them on the box- found out later she used last years christmas stamps- obviously postage has gone up since then. The postman took them- will I get them back or will they go to their destination "postage due" One is for dh's xmas gift and if it comes back to our box, he will know what I got him. This was just yesterday- I feel so stupid- should have chucked the old stamps....

I am pretty sure it will get returned to you stamped "insufficient postage."

Yup, that's what happened to me when I tried to mail something and postage had gone up but I didn't put the extra on the envelope.

I sent my friend a postcard from Las Vegas and apparently the postcard was too large and needed extra postage (it didn't say so, and usually they do if that's the case). It came to her marked "postage due".

I've had it go both ways - maybe it has to do with the amount due?

I wouldn't worry about it coming back today if you just mailed it yesterday. I think it takes awhile for that to go through the system. Several days at least.

If you have a return address on the envelope it should come back to you, if not it will got to whomever you mailed it to marked postage due.

I would come up with a back up plan for the bills.

It can take a while for it to come back to you.
I sent them out in plenty of time- even if they do come back to me... I never wait til the last minute. Most of our bills are paid online anyway. I'm just worried about the gift. It didn't come back today anyway! I should be all set. Thanks guys!
