Is WDW usually booked (resorts) and/or crowded the week of Thanksgiving?

I have been checking for room availability on the WDW site, and they show "no vacancies." I do plan to call them, but haven't done it yet as we don't have all of our plans worked out.

Our plans are spur-of-the-moment. My Mom has been ill and just passed away last week. I really NEED a trip to WDW right now, and DH is trying to get some time off from work.

Do you think I have any kind of a chance?

Thanks a bunch

I am sorry to hear what happened to your mother.

November is the value season. However, the park could be busy during the Thanksgiving weekend.

Just give Disney a call to see what you can get.

Good luck!

Sorry to hear about your mother...

We already have reservations for Thanksgiving week, but I needed to add another room. When I called Disney they told me they were pretty close to full and were completely full at AKL(where I needed the extra room). I hung up with them and went online to check Expedia, they have rooms available. I would suggest if your going to do it, book the room as soon as you know for sure. Just a side note the discounted code rates for Thanksgiving week expire tomorrow. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Try Expedia.com or Travelocity.com and you may want to check flights if you need them before booking a room. Good Luck.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

Just to let you know, I tried to book a Disney resort for an extra night around Thanksgiving through Expedia, Travelocity and Southwest Airlines because I couldn't get it through the Disney reservation line. All three showed rooms available, but when I entered all the pertinent info including credit card number, it said I would have to contact the resort.

You might want to book a room off-site just to have something and then keep trying with Disney. Last year, I called the day before Thanksgiving for a last-minute trip and was able to get the Contemporary for $159, and we ended up with a beautiful room on the water and a view of the water pageant. It can happen!

You don't mention whether you have kids, but if you do, I've read the kidsuites at the Holiday Inn Family Suites are great. There are also postings about off-site recommendations. Good luck!

Sending some pixie dust! *~*~*~*

In addition to other listed sites, try Dreams Unlimited from the DIS website. They have a lot of access points and might be able to help.
Sorry about your loss, hope you can arrange for a great trip.

I'm very sorry to hear about your Mother .. my prayers and sympathy are with you and your family..

To answer your question, yes .. I think you probably still have a pretty good chance of finding SOMETHING available on site. Did you have a particular resort in mind? Or it doesn't really matter where, just as long as you're at WDW? You might want to try checking Expedia and Travelocity too..

We go every year at this time, and have booked last-minute trips. Yes, it gets crowded the Tuesday before T-giving... but it's worth it! If you can stay through the T-giving weekend, the Xmas decorations will start popping up! Try all of the hotels, it will be so healing for you. Good Luck.
I highly recommend Dreams Unlimited.

I am so sorry to hear about your Mother, our sympathy is with you and your family.

I know exactly what you're going through, I lost my Dad in January, so our trip at Thanksgiving is my way of dealing with not having him with us for the upcoming Holidays. I know I'm going to be a mess.

But anyway, I started planning my trip in APRIL, but keep trying to get a room. CBR is closed for renovations, so that put 2200+ families scrambling to find rooms in the rest of the World. You may end up off-site, but you never know. Have you tried going through a travel agency? I got a tad bit better of a deal through my TA, a little difference from the on=line price Disney had.

Good luck in what you decide to do.

A couple of years ago, we booked a trip five days before Thanksgiving week. We called a travel agent friend who got us some great hotel and airline rates. It is hard getting PS though for that week - all the restuarants book up quickly. Stay away from MK the last part of the week.

I want to thank everyone for your kind words of support!!! Yes, it does help, even if the encouraging words are from total strangers!!

Results: We are booked for Coronado (water view)! I feel fortunate that we got that one. I found some really good deals on EXPEDIA.COM, and was just shocked that by the time DH & I could sit down and actually MAKE the reservations, they were unavailable! It was like they "zipped off-screen" before our eyes! But we're set and I'm quite satisfied!

Just barely got plane tickets, too! Same thing happened. But we did get a good price, so again, I'm not complaining (but I do hope that they'll be able to seat at least one of us with our 7 y/o son.... our seats are scattered all over the place! LOL).

BTW, does anyone go swimming at this time of year? I'm wondering how much "fun" we'll have in the water.

 thank you  thank you  thank you

You'll find the temperature going from chilly to hot and anywhere in between. You'll be able to swim but have a sweatshirt handy for nighttime. We have even gone swimming in January.

Hugs to you Casey.....if ANYONE needs a WDW vacation...it is YOU and YOURS!!!

Have a great time.....your MOM will be smiling down upon you:)

Hey , why wait until Thanksgiving it's more crowded at that time? I just booked my trip a couple of days ago for October 3rd. Plenty of room now. :bounce: :Pinkbounc

We're so glad you were able to find reservations for everything, it was meant to be for you to be at Disney. Just a thought if you have Electronic ticketing when you check in you might be able to find seats together. We were able to do this for our last trip, we were in row 27 & changed our seats to row 9. If you don't have ETickets I would definitely go early & ask when you check in. So sorry for your loss our thoughts are with you. Have a wonderful trip.
