Too late to buy for a trip this year??

Found a listing this morning for 50 points with Aug UY but no points available until next year. I would really like to try and use it this year. Perhaps I am being too picky though. I don't want to buy something too quick but I also don't want to wait forever! I guess if I am going to buy something that I can't use until next year I should be in no rush though...

If the contract has no points coming this August, you could still borrow points from 2010 to use August 2009 through July 2010.....

Are you getting priority email notifications from resale brokers (before listings are shown on their site) ? This can often be helpful especially with smaller resale contracts which tend to go quickly once they are published.

Since the contract you mention is stripped of 2009 UY points you may be able to negotiate with seller on MFs, closing costs, possibly even try for lower price per point.

You can borrow 2010 UY points into 2009 UY; that would work if you didn't plan travel again to WDW until after 2011 UY begins otherwise you'd be regularly borrowing against upcoming UY.

I am on the mailing lists and have been getting the daily updates. Hopefully something will come out soon.

We actually don't plan to go next year (planning child #3) but wanted to bank our points so in 2011 we could go with a 1 or 2 BDRM. I will probably add on before then too...

So a nice looking 50 point resale for BWV came out today (All 08 & 09 points) April use year. Like I mentioned before we typically travel in September but we are trying December for the first time this year. If I understand correctly, with an April UY I could not bank a Dec reservation? Correct?

Trying to decide if I should keep waiting or go after this one.... Thanks!!

With an April UY, you would have until November 30th to bank points. If you have a December reservation, you would still have time to bank the points if cancel the trip at least 31 days in advance.

If you had to cancel your Dec trip less than 31 days out, the points will go into holding and would have to be used by March 31st, for reservations booked with 60 days less in advance.

I still think you would be okay with this UY for the time of year you like to travel.

Wasn't meant to be. The right one will come along. 50 point contracts go fast. I put up my VWL contract and had an offer in less than 24 hours. Still waiting on the buyer to follow through but if it doesn't happen, I am confident that it will sell quickly if it has to go back up.
