Personally I would choose Cindy's for dinner over Tony's because I have very rarely seen anyone say that they've really enjoyed their dinner at Tony's. Most people report excellent meals from Cindy's, however.
I have had breakfast at Tony's (before it was a character meal) and it was WONDERFUL! I just wouldn't eat lunch or dinner there. I'm not big on eating Italian food out at restaurants, and for what you pay for dinner at Tony's, it's just not worth it. I can vouch for the dinners at Cindy's though! My family of 4 had dinner there last year and the filet mignon I had literally melted in my mouth, and the service was EXCELLENT. My DSs enjoyed their food from the kid's menu, as well My younger DS was given a paper crown and crayons when we were first seated, and I believe the kid's menu was printed on the inside of the crown.
I'm not sure what time MVMCP starts, but I'd make a PS for at least an hour or hour and a half beforehand.
This is the place to eat for that special Christmas Magic before MVMCP!
A year ago, my small group ate at Tony's before MVMCP. We asked for a table on the porch. While dining, we saw the lighting of the Christmas Tree in town square, were serenaded by carolers, and completely enjoyed the splendor of the Christmas decorations all around.
The food is fine, not spectacular, but the special Christmas mood we were in after dining on the porch was the perfect start to the evening.
I think sitting out on the porch at Tony's would be great for the reasons just stated, soaking up the holiday atmosphere. You can watch the people as they arrive in their Christmas Mickey hats.
Cindy's is great any evening, but I couldn't agree more with Little Bear that dinner on the porch at Tony's is THE place to be prior to MVMCP. We also had the opportunity to do this last year. It was FABULOUS! The huge tree -- right in front of you! The carolers... the decorations.... It's great. On your MVMCP night, you want all the magic of Christmas.... So what if the pasta is a little overpriced? Hey, what isn't at Disney, right? Just enjoy, and save Cindy's for another night as an event in itself.
Skip Tony's. The spaghetti and meatballs (or should I say baseballs) were so bad I was tempted to give the chef my
recipe. It was an expensive dissapoinment!
