I just booked ADRs at Tony's for 8:50pm. It looks like the parade will begin at 9:00. Will we be able to see it? What seating area should I request?

Hello fellow Michigander! Welcome to the boards.

Tony's is a good restaurant, but not to see the parade from. There is limited seating on the patio if you are lucky enough to get that. But you can't request it until you are there at the podium and then it isn't a guarantee. You also may have to wait if you request that area. Could be 10min could be 1/2 hour.
You can't see the parade from inside, so your only bet is the patio. That said, even though the patio is up higher, you won't see the whole floats as they go by because of the people between you and the street.

My recommendation is if the parade is a must switch your adr if you can.
Lastly, a 8:50 ressie for the 9pm parade, you may not be seated anyway.

Sorry I bring such news, but just trying to be honest with you.

Good luck and enjoy your vacation!!

1) Anytime you want a favored seat at an eatery, earlier is best.
2) Allowing 10-minutes before a parade will not get you a good seat.
3) At least not with one of the parade.
4) The best times is 1-1½ hours ahead of time.
5) People hold onto a patio table for the parade.
6) Even though the view is not the best view.
7) I would
. . . reschedule much earlier if you want to try for the patio
. . . reschedule after 9:00pm to get a seat inside
. . . watch the parade, then reschedule for 9:40pm or later

8) Not good alternatives, but rational.

NOTE: Any requests for specific seats (patio at Tony's, window at Cali Grill, window at Ohana, patio at Rose & Crown) is only a request and not a guarantee.

We ate on the patio of Tony's a couple of years ago. Our ADR was a half hour before the 3pm parade, and after asking if we could be seated out there, it was only a 10 minute wait for us (this was in March during Spring Break too). Now I know our family was very lucky to of gotten the seat outside because like others have said, the request is a request not a guarantee plus normally you would have to have an ADR much earlier to get a good seat, but I really think it was because my DH and I were celebrating our anniversary when we were there and we had on our "Happy Anniversary" buttons so that probably helped our chances. As for the view on the patio, we had a perfect view of the parade with no one standing in front of us, sure there were people but it wasn't as if you were down the main drag on Main Street. Good luck and have a great trip.

We were lucky enough to get patio seating for Tonys during Spectromagic. It is magical, the servers actually make sure no one is standing in front of you while you eat dinner. They only sat about three tables on the patio the night we were there. Persistence pays off though, we made really early ADRs, went early and asked to be seated there. We had to wait a long time, and decline many offers to sit inside the restaurant, but it paid off in the end. The patio is a great place to watch the parade from, especially while enjoying dinner. Good luck!
