hey, i love those dummies books :rotfl2: puts everything in plain and simple english that i don't have to think!!! can't remember the last time i rented a car! so please excuse all the questions!!!

getting the car:
- can the rental be put on my room bill?
- if dh is the main driver, can i pay with my cc?
- how long does the process take?
- what's the wait like at the ccc between 6-7am on a monday morning?
- how do we arrange the ccc to pick us up to bring us to the ccc?
- and then what happens? please walk me through it!

returning the car:
- what's the return like? is it drive into a parking space, drop off the keys and you're on your way? again, a walk thru please!
- how do we arrange to be taken back to hotel or park?
- is there a grace period of return time? say we clock the car out at 9am and we're driving in at 9am the next day - just when do they sock you with a late fee....or whatever it is they do?

i think i'll have more, but that's way more than enough for now

For this one, DH as the driver must have a major credit card in his name with money available on it. Some rental car companies like will place a $250 hold on the card even if the bill is less than than, some will place a hold of the total plus an extra percentage. I know Alamo will only charge your card what the amount is. The card must be presented when picking up the car. When you return the car, some companies will let you pay for it with a different card, or with cash, etc but in order to pick up the car DH would have to have a credit card in his name with available credit. Check with whichever company you rent from for their exact policy since it can be different from others.

Put car rental on your room bill? No.
DH/DW is main driver? I believe yes yo may use your credit card but it may vary by company.
Bring you to Car Care Center and rental office there? Appointment needed about 24 hours in advance.

Returning car? Drive into location they tell you to and wait for attendant to check the gas gauge, fenders, etc. and/or give you additional instructions. He may give you just the final receipt and you are done.
Back to hotel? Appointment needed, about 24 hours in advance of return.
Grace period? Don't assume any but some rental companies give up to "59 minutes". Caution: Rental companies reserve the right to refigure your entire rental at their current probably higher rate if you are tardy.
