I have heard so much about Tonga Toast but have yet to try it. Boatwright's has a stuffed banana french toast. Anyone ever tried both? Are they the same thing? Similar? Or two different taste experiences all together?

Thanks for any input. Trying to decide if a trip to the Kona Cafe for this famous toast is needed. Have already had Boatwright's ft several times and love it (we are big ft eaters). Thanks again

Hi kidlit,

My husband and I have tried both types of FT and they are quite similar (in our opinion). The Tonga Toast does not come with the strawberry topping though. It is rolled in cinnamon/sugar if I remember correctly. The breads used for the two FT recipes might be slightly different flavors (e.g. white vs. sourdough) but they are both thick cuts with the banana filling. We love both recipes!

If you haven't tried Kona Cafe, they have a wonderful fresh fruit selection and other tropical starters (like fresh juices) that complement the Tonga Toast very well. The coffee selection at Kona Cafe is superior to Boatwrights as well. We also like the ambience of Kona Cafe. It overlooks the lobby's rainforest so we usually book the Kona Cafe breakfast before a MK day.

I hope this helps! :flower:

Thank you Drenkey! My DH and I are also big coffee fans so I think we will give it a try. I am already hungry!
