Tomorrowland Arcade Now Closed

Thanks! That link wants me to subscribe, but I was able to find the exact article with a Google search... so weird.

I had the same issue with that article but don't think the ban would effect this arcade since they don't do redemption.

I think arcades in general are about 10 or more years behind the times.

I had no idea there was a tomorrowland arcade. Granted Tomorrowland is our least favorite land but I thought I would at least notice something like that!

There was a long electrical outlet strip along the back wall where you could recharge phones etc. I guess all that is gone now too.

Maybe it is just more they are catching up to the changing times and have better use of space in mind. Or the change just makes them want to ditch arcades sooner than later just to be safe.

Arcades are still fun, but seem better suited for a Dave N Busters type of environment rather than inside a theme park (with already plenty to do/see).

I have fond memories of going to arcades in malls and theme parks when I was younger .. a great way to cool off during the hot mid-day .. but that was in their peak in the 90s when game consoles weren't in every household and smartphones didn't exist and the games had far better graphics/gameplay than any computer/console could. Nowadays, phones have better graphics than most dated arcade games.

My teenagers spent quite a bit of time in the arcade. They enjoyed it alot. I usually left them and rode the TTC a couple of times and then went into Fantasyland and rode the attractions there since they weren't interested in those.

Good thing they don't want to go back for many years - they'd be disappointed that one of their favorite things in MK was gone. At least they will have good memories of it.

My son liked the arcade too but Disney did have some ancient games in there. I enjoyed the opportunity to rest a bit while he played.

I wonder if it'll just stay empty like so many places or if we can expect a gift shop.

By the way, Florida sure passes some weird laws.

With the monstrous 5 floor arcade at DTD, I don't think this is a big loss. I'm sure they can find something better to put in that space.

My kids always loved it too..... probably because of the ancient games. :)

I didn't even know that existed! I don't know how DS missed that, as much as he loves video games! I'm actually sort of glad we never noticed it..

Speaking of ancient games.... ;)

The fun of videogames isn't solely in their graphics. A good game is a good game. DS loves Donkey Kong and Pac Man, and will play them for ages if allowed. He adores pinball games; can't get those at home without spending a serious amount of money.

I'm sad about the arcade situation. I don't even like them (they were for when I was 11, not now) but DH and DS do, and that's what's important.
