Tom & Heidi 1/19/09 Italy WD/WP/Narcoossee's/Sago Cay...Sprint to the Finish!!!

:woohoo: Yeah for buying DVC; I agree I think BLT is definitely the best choice. We hope to buy soon in the next couple of years. Just have to take care of some grad school loans and the rest of the wedding first :upsidedow

I totally agree about the new groom hats; definitely not the cutest.

I would have been super excited about the comparison between your invites and the dessert; I would have been telling everyone about it ::MickeyMo So, with Citrico's would you definitely go back? I've never eaten there before and have wanted to try it, so I was curious what your thoughts were compared to the other options available.

Just stumbled on your pictures and by the end of the Root slideshow I was tearing up. Congrats! :)

Thank you! Weddings can be real tear-jerkers! Thanks for reading, though!

Here's to hoping the loans get obliterated soon! No grad school for us! The Army prefers us unedumacated!...just kidding (disclaimer: this isn't true at all...we just never have time for school with all the sandy trips going on at the moment. But, I am secretly...or I guess now it's openly...jealous of the opportunity to go back to school!).

So ANYWAY :) We wanted to try Narcoossee's that night, but it was full. I really did like Citrico's and probably will go back. I don't think it's on my "Must-Try-Everytime" list like CG is, but I love hanging out at the GF, so I can totally see us stopping in there to soak up some ambience and good food. Honestly, the cheese plate was DIVINE. I'd go back just for that. And a good wine selection, too (but that's at the whole GF). It's a little noisier than some GF restaurants, so I'd say it's more for a post-MK respite or an outing with friends or family than a romantic dinner for two (unless you can get them to seat you by a window...then I retract!)

Heidi, the pics are just gorgeous - I have been sitting here crying, reading all of this - I am so proud to have you and your DH serving our Country! Can't wait for more details!

yay for buying DVC!! What a way to start your wedding trip!!

Uh-oh! The Great Sickness of 2009!?!?! Sounds bad!!

Thanks for the review on Citrico's; it sounds like a place to add at the end of a day at the MK :)

I definitely think you two have had plenty on your plate compared to just going to school. You have lots of time school will always be there; we have a good friend who just came off active duty this fall and is starting grad school in September :goodvibes Warning, once you start its hard to stop :rotfl: DH and I ended up with two master's and now I'm teaching at a community college, so it has had me contemplating a PhD.

Looking forward to more of your report; I'm a little nervous to hear about the sickness though.

I LOVE your wedding pics!! Both sets!! i do like Roots style.

Thank you both for your service! My Dad is a CoastGuard 'Nam vet and was also in the Navy. My nephew is AIRBORNE and was in Iraq Nov '06 -March '08 and is getting married in 2 weeks so I really liked hearing your aspect of it all! I Love my Country and LOVE all of our Servicemen and Women!! My Dad is now my Pastor and we have several Veterans in our church including a couple who met and Married in the Army and if I'm not mistaken I think it was in Germany!!!:goodvibes Anyway we start off every Sun night Service by praying for all of our Servicemen and women and our leaders!!
Both of your weddings were Beautifull and I have to say you and your DH are Stunning. You looked like models in a Bridal magazine!!

My DH is Best Man in his best Friends escape wedding in Aug. So we are taking a few extra days just to be together and consider it the HoneyMoon we never had! After reading and looking at all your pics. I just told DH I'm fixing to go on a Money Marathon!!:rotfl: I now want this to be more Honeymoonish while we're there!!

And now I'm really wanting to have a VR on our 15th. :thumbsup2

Today i got the information packet for the MK bridal shoot, and you and Tom are on the front cover! its a great picture!

Congrats for being a covergirl!

PS I searched the thread looking for your dress's designer. Did you post it? I really love your dress. If you don't want to post it, could you please PM it to me??

Thanks! The dress is Marsella by La Sposa. It's a designer under the Pronovias brand, so you'll see many similar in Pronovias, as well. Mine was in "beige." Such a weird name for a wedding dress color, but I loved it!

I am not sure how I missed this Heidi:confused3. Your wedding was absolutly breathtaking, your dress was perfect! It is so obvious how in love you and Tom are... I think that is wonderful to be able to see that shine through in pictures:goodvibes

Oh, and I hope you don;t mind that I am "borrowing" your hair pics for my trial... It is exactly what I want:goodvibes.

Your vendor reviews were great, I love how honest you were and critqued (not criticised) everyone accurately. It makes it much easier for all of us bride's to be to understand the whole disney wedding process. We are using some of the same vendors and I made a few notes about what you said so I could (attempt lol) to be prepared

Oh and congrats for being a cover model lol! You should do an anniversary shoot there and try to make another cover lol!

Thanks Sam! You're very sweet! I think we're in an extended "honeymoon" phase, since he's still in Iraq! We might not look so in love when I have to start picking up after him!!:rotfl2::lmao: (totally kidding, actually...he's the neatnik!)

You may borrow away anything you like. That's why I post it. :)

I can't wait to read your TR! And I love your e-pics. We're talking about a quick January trip, since we'll be back in the states, but I have so many beautiful pics already, I probably ought to wait till I at least have kids for more pictures!

I am SO sorry I haven't written more. I will get to it!!

I want to start by saying I am SO glad we had a DFTW. It was amazing, and I have heard from so many guests who were blown away as well. That being said, just like any grand events, there are minor things I would change or wish I had done differently. If you’re on the boards, you’re probably obsessive about planning your DFTW, so I’m going to share detailed insights into areas I wish I had thought of before hand. But none of that takes away from the awesome, magical-ness of our weekend!

Here’s a sneak peak!!

The dresses were from B2 by Jasmine. I picked the design because I had one pregnant BM, and they had the style (B1039) in a maternity style.

I knew that they had a purple "formal" outfit, so I requested that. They will ask you if you want them in their normal clothes or "formal" attire.

Thank you for your support!

Heidi, I just read your PJ and wow you looked absolutely beautiful! And your story is truly touching. I am so glad you got to experience your fairytale wedding, it is thanks to people like you that we get to enjoy these memorable things in life. Can't wait to hear more!

All caught up!!! Your pictures are gorgeous!!! Yay for buying into BLT! We are neighbors!!!!!! :lmao:

I am DEFINITELY blessed. I was getting all weepy yesterday that DH is still in Iraq, so I put in my "Wishes" soundtrack and started counting my blessings. Of course then, I was blubbering because music like that ("Wishes" "Main Street Electrical Parade" anything TYPICALLY WDW) makes me cry...in a good way. I think I'm weird!

I've been following along with you, too. I left Orlando the day of your wedding, and was so bummed it was pouring all day. I'm so glad your day was beautiful in spite of it. And YAY for being neighbors. I just booked my first reservation a couple nights ago for the Marathon weekend in Jan. We couldn't get MK view all 4 nights, but we're still EXCITED!!!!

W-3

I forgot to mention that on the 15th (W-4), Michelle Wenzler-Dorr (our WP) tracked us down, left a message and emailed us to make sure she kept us up to date on how things were going. Up to this point, I had had several good conversations, lots of emails, and two PSs with Michelle, but when she went into “execution mode” she really shined! In the email she warned us about the temp (it was pretty cold at this point) and gave us the option to add heaters for the Welcome Dinner (outside at Italy Isola). She really was not pushy on these at all, but I thought it was great that she was proactive about offering them. She also gave me some insight into what she had in store for the tea party...and reiterated this when I spoke to her on the phone the next day.

I loved how she fed me details, instead of me having to fish for information. Here’s a snippet of what she wrote:

I will not be at the start of your tea as I will be doing a
wedding then but will try and make it by sometime during it. I do have
one of my staff members that will be there in the beginning. I will be
setting it up earlier that morning and have a few props that I have
found that I think you will love to have there!!! Wait to you see the
cake. They have already showed me some of the stuff that they are
putting on it and it is sooo cute and in theme with Mary Poppins &
madhatter. You'll see it's very cute

Hope you and Tom are having fun and spending great time together after
so long apart !!

On Friday the 16th, everyone started to arrive. We had figured out the night before that DH’s sisters actually arrived on the 15th and were already there! I can’t believe they didn’t tell us. I have to admit, it’s nice to have some people think about not bugging the B&G too much, but we were still relaxed at that point!

So, we woke up slowly and took our time at breakfast. We knew that this day was going to pick up speed, so we enjoyed our last quiet moments.

A few days before the wedding, Disney announced a Military Salute that gave each service member a free 5 day Park Hopper and the option to buy up to 5 “Companion” 5-day (plain or Park Hoppers) for $99 or $124 (depending on the PH option). We really thought this was too good of a deal to not take advantage of, so we decided we would buy them for our family (and they would pay us back). But that entailed us getting to Shades of Green, because the Service Member had to be the one to purchase them. We walked from the GF to SOG and there was a crazy long line, but we accomplished our mission!

We made our way to the CR, as my Dad and Aunt were scheduled to check in and DH’s sisters were eating at Chef Mickey’s with their families. We met up with them, and also found my Dad and Aunt eventually (they got lost!). The next event was getting all these folks to the main gate of MK to “validate” the companion tickets. So, we had to take EVERYONE (my parents and aunt and his sisters, brothers-in-law and their 3 kids) to the MK Guest Relations window. That was like herding cats!

By this point, we were all hungry (way past lunch), but DH and I had to get back to the GF to meet BFF/MOH and her DH and DD, as she was bringing all the supplies for the Welcome Bags (She was my Stateside Distribution Point for all the stuff I ordered). So, we abandoned everyone at the MK and made our way back to the GF.

The GF Bell Services was a BLESSING here. MOH pulled up in their car, we had Bell Services unload the TONS of boxes and such and later they delivered it to our room. SOOO easy! So, we started to put the bags together. Sticking to our “turn-of-the-century” theme, I had found snacks that were enjoyed by Americans around the beginning of the 20th century. MOH decided to add a sort of “Pop Up Video” style sticker to each to explain the meaning. I thought it turned out really cute!

Here’s what the bags themselves looked like. MOH took the invitation design and made iron-on transfers which she put on some cheapo totes I bought. We should have gone with the linen color, as the weight showed the imprint of the transfer a bit. But, I still think they turned out gorgeous!

This took up most of the afternoon, and MOH had to check on her parents and in-laws who were checking in. So, DH and I made ADRs at O'hanas for our families...that's next!
