He's arrogant....and to add to his arrogance---evidently he got thousands of letters from people saying thank you for his stance when he first took it.
Part of arrogance is that you aren't going to care what any other non-scientologist celebs and politicians have to say on the matter.
I agree with the Holier than Thou attitude talked about.
If he really wished to use his celebrity to "educate" rather than condemn...he could have taken this all from a different angle entirely with different results.
