Been a while since we drove straight to WDW. We usually stop on the east side of florida for a few days before heading to WDW on I-4. The last time we were in Florida they were talking about the opening of a new tollway from I-75 to I-4.

Has anyone taking this tollway? Can you give me any info on this tollway? Where do you catch it and where does it dump you out?

TIA:thanks:

The new toll road does not run from I-75 to I-4. That road is the same as it has always been....Florida's Turnpike. If you take that route the mainline toll is $2.50 plus another $.50 at the I-4 exit ramp for a total of $3.00 one way.

What is new is the Western Beltway (signed as TOLL 429). It runs north-south and can take you from the Turnpike down to the new western entrance to Disney World. You would still exit I-75 onto Florida's Turnpike but you would leave the Turnpike at Exit#267A which is prior to I-4. You'd then head south on the 429 to the Western Way/Hartzog Road/Disney World Exit #8. You would still pay $2.50 on the Turnpike plus $1.25 on the 429 for a total of $3.75 one way.

The new route has a LOT less traffic than I-4 however whether this route is better depends on where in Disney you're headed. It takes you to the west side of the World and comes in at the Coronado Springs Resort. If you're headed to hotels near DTD or I-Drive, stick with the I-4 exit. For Port Orleans, you could give the new route a shot.

I drove the 429(Western Beltway) just to drive it and check it out.Wow it was the most empty highway I've ever driven through, for some reason driving this stretch of highway reminded me a little bit of Napa valley in California just emptier and less picturesque. You will definitely get to Disney property faster taking this route, but in all honesty it's not as impressive to drive into Disney property taking this highway versus one of the more main entrances as it drops you off by the west end of Disney between Coronado Springs and Blizzard Beach,it's still Disney and it's still beautiful it just had this less exciting feel as it basically was driving into Disney and going in the back door.
