We will be traveling to WDW on sunday... on I75, etc. from Georgia. Can anyone tell me about how many toll booths I'll go through and what kind of change I'll need to keep handy?

thanks!

To get to WDW from I-75 you need to then go on the Florida Turnpike, which past Ocala, Florida. Anyway as for the number of toll boths it depends on which way you drive to WDW. When my parents and I have went this way there was two toll booths. One was along the Turnpike and the 2nd one was just before getting onto Interstate 4 Westbound, since that is the way we drove to WDW.

As for you're other question I don't remember 100% what the cost was however I think it was $2.00, although I might be thinking of another toll both on the Sunshine Skyway which is located in another part of Florida if you were to drive towards Sarasota.

We drive down from Michigan and haven't found toll booths. I know there are some in Florida on certain roads, but we have never found them. We have gotten trip ticks froms AAA, and also stopped at the Disney welcome center in Ocala, and neither places directions have gotten us on toll roads. We are driving down again in December, so I'll be interested to know if there are now toll booths.

thanks for the info!

Do you remember if the two dollars one can take quarters if you want to throw the change in and keep going....and not hand it to a teller which usually takes longer?

There should be three different boths you can choose. There is exact change which would be quaters that you throw in a bucket, another one where you hand bills to someone and the last one is for something called Florida Ezpass where Florida residents can purchase a transponder and drive right threw without stopping, so a picture will be taken of their license plate and they will get a bill in the mail.

I think the first toll on the Turnpike is $2.50 and there is an attendant but the last one you will go through to get onto I-4 is unattended and I think it's 50cents so make sure you have 4 or so quarters to be on the safe side!

I just wanted to note that the Western Beltway, 429 (a toll road), then Disney's Western Way, is the newer, more direct way to get to WDW from the Florida Turnpike than going all the way to what can be a traffic-clogged I-4, then backtracking southwest to WDW.

I'd simply make sure to have some money less than a $20 bill with you. Yes, the toll booth attendants may be slightly slower than throwing coins in the exact change booths, but it's really not that bad.

Just to make sure it's clear: there are no toll booths on I-75 in Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, or Florida (to the Florida Turnpike at least). It may be toll-booth free the whole distance from Detroit to Miami, but I only wanted to speak for the portions of I-75 with which I'm familiar.

If you're starting point on I-75 is in Detroit there are no toll boths until you get on the Floridia Turnpike. Now in my families case there is a tool booth just after we clear United States Customs, however that would apply to anyone driving into the United States from Canada and you see this before getting on I-75.

To the OP:

If you are driving from Georgia on I-75, there are no tolls on the interstate. There are tolls on the Florida Turnpike, which is what most people will take from the Turnpike to the Orlando area. You can go to the floridasturnpike website for a toll calculator to find out exactly how much you will pay. If you want to avoid tolls, you can get off of the Turnpike at Hwy 301 (before the first toll booth), take Hwy 301 to Hwy 50, Hwy 50 to Hwy 27, Hwy 27 to Hwy 192, or you can take I-75 to I-4, and I-4 east to Orlando. But either of these routes will take you out of your way and cost you time.

Most Disney guests prefer to take the new Western Beltway (SR429) exit off the Turnpike to Disney instead of taking the Turnpike all the way to I-4, and then I-4 to Disney. The Western Beltway is also a toll road, and you can look up the tolls on the same website.

Just for the record, the E-Pass and SunPass transponders are a PRE-paid system. Anyone who is a frequent visitor to Orlando can buy a transponder and set up an account. Prepaid accounts do qualify for discounts on some routes, but not all. The only time a photo of the car's license plate is taken is if the car goes through a collection gate with either no transponder or with no money in their account. They are not mailed a bill - they are mailed a traffic citation! I have one of the transponders, because I use the Turnpike to go to work.

I hope you all have passports for 2008 and beyond trips to WDW.

You have a few choices. If you want no tolls at all do as the previous poster stated.

There is also an option for just $1.00 in tolls. Get on the Florida Turnpike and get off at Clermont/US 27 South, pay $1.00, then follow US 27 South to 192 West, then World Drive.

Also, as others stated, my favorite way to WDW now is Florida Turnpike ($2.50 toll), then 429S, ($1.00) toll, then Western Way directly on to Disney property. (If you are towing a single axle trailer, then the tolls become $5.00 and $1.50, respectively, double axle trailer, $7.50, and $2.00 respectively)
