anybody here have any experience with this lens...

I've found great reviews online but thought I'd check here also..

i want to know about this as well

canon but i really am more interested in first hand experience about tokina lenses in general since they seem to get some really nice reviews but i never hear about many who actually have them except in reviews...plus some of the rating ie on fredmiranda are in the 7 range and i don't know if that is brand name bias or if there really is that much of a difference...i was looking at that one then ended up buying a canon 70-200 f4 since the tokina weighed more and i couldn't find out much first hand info about it. but would have loved the f2.8 ..and now am trying to decide between the 12-24 or 10-17 tokina and the 10-22 canon.

I sometimes wonder how some people on here find time to shoot, with all the lenses they have they must spend all their time changing lenses..LOL

hey that's the last one i want ( famous last words)since my only wide angle is the kit lens i don't use much( and husband is going to use when he gets my rebel) and my next widest is the one that has been in the shop since Jan...50mm on a 1.6 crop is just not all that wide:lmao: if i sell my 28-135 i probably will buy something for the mid range but i might not depending on how much i miss the 23/25-50mm length.

well I bought the lens today, I guess I'll find out if the great reviews were justified..

Congrats on the new lens, post some pics when you get it...

now I also get to see how many lenses I need to remove from my bag to make room for it..LOL

I will most definitely post pics once I get it.

lens has arrived, I've wanted the minolta lens for years but 2000 is out of my price range,, scored this one on ebay.. original price around 750...got it for 350.... I like saving money..the difference in price will help pay for my new sony body once they release their pro model... supposedly sometime this year..

initial inspection, excellent condition,,,built like a tank,,even the lens hood is metal......

few quick pictures inside.....looks good..

going to spend part of my lunch hour testing it out,,, will post pics later today...

didn't get to play as much as I had planned, ran into a friend and got talked fast.. but so far I'm loving the lens,,

I like the clutch that disengages focus ring, it autofocuses much faster than the reviews led me to believe it would...

I think it's your turn to buy and do the review for us..:thumbsup2

OT a bit here but don't people who hang flags own an iron?

Mickey, can you share how much this lens cost?

I am still saving my pennies for the Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8, but meanwhile I would like to have a lens for a second body as High School Football is rapidly approaching.

I believe that the Tokina lens that Mickey88 has is a actually a Tokina design, and I know the 10-17mm is a Pentax design, so the quality of one may not be a direct indicator of the quality of the other.

I do think that the 10-17mm has gotten quite good reviews though, and if you are looking for reviews, you should be able to expect that reviews of the Pentax-branded one should have pretty much identical image quality, though the build may be slightly different (but I think both have very good build quality.) Of course, if you find reviews of the Tokina version easily, then that's moot, but sometimes it's hard to find reviews of specific lenses, and the more reviews, the better...

One of these days I'll probably pick one up to supplement my 16mm fisheye, but probably not for a while, I fear.

these flags were hanging in the PA Capitol Building, I doubt they have an iron.

Plus I'm fairly certain that ironing the US flag is not proper flag care

I found it as part of a large package deal on ebay, the seller stated that he would be willing to split the package, I asked how much for this lens, he said 400, I offered 300 he said 350 was the bottom price so I took it....

my research showed that the 80-200 atx-pro sold new for around 800

tokina has another 80-200 that has a red ring rather than gold, from what I read the pro lens is definitely made better...

what camera do you have
