Hi all,

First time Disney cruiser. Thanks for indulging me with any answers to the following questions:

1. Are swimmies or their likeness allowed in the pools? How about at any of the beaches on the Eastern, especially Magen's Bay and Castaway? My kids are great swimmers when they have them on, otherwise they are attached to my hip (ugh).

2. When can I expect my documents for our 11/15 Eastern?

3. Should I pack pails, shovels, etc, or are they available at Castaway?

4. What is "family time" in Oceaneer's Club? I have a 3 year old, who will participate regularly, but have heard that my 2 year old might be welcome if I accompany her at certain times.

5. What is "captain's closet?"

Thanks a million ! Any unsolicited advice on making this work with toddlers is also welcome!

Peg

I saw kids wearing Swimmies on our last cruise in the Goofy pool...the mickey pool is very shallow so they really wouldn't be able to "swim" in there...more like a wading pool...they do have to be toilet trained to use the pools though, no swim diapers are allowed.

Peg,

expect your documents 2-4 weeks before you sail. save yourself some time and frustration by filling them out before you get to the port. :)

you can pack pails/shovels/etc. we had some delivered by "mickey and the gang" (aka Shirley) on our first cruise and took them back for our second. i think what we'll do next time is pick up some sand toys from the dollar store and just throw them out when we are done. they just don't pack well. you can buy them on castaway cay, but i'm sure they cost more there than anywhere else in the world. :)

never heard of the "captain's closet" but hoping he doesn't come out of it on my cruise. ;)

Captain's closet is a smaller room with dress up clothes and computers where the 3-7 spend time. Especially later at night when they have free time. My dds loved it but I thought it had a bit of a musty smell to it.
I would think that your two year old could probably participate with you there. My infant was in the club for a while while we took pictures of the girls and no one said he couldn't be there. I believe the offical family time is around5-6pm(when the kids club are at dinner) and there may be some time early in the am. Not sure though.
We always bring dollar store rafts and such and discard them on the islands when we are done(or give them to anyone who wants them) so swimmies are fine. I would definitely bring pails and shovels if your kids will want them. They have some available at scuttles cove though.
We got our documents for 11/1 on 9/23 so you should be seeing them soon
Have a great cruise.

Oh my goodness! Either I'm going senile or I've taken too much Benadryl for my cold. It took me a good 4 minutes to figure out that the last poster was not the original poster!! I thought "wow, she's answering her own questions SOOO well!!! Why did she ask them if she knew so much?"

Then I realized diz4me and dis4me are two different people. But interestingly enough, both in NJ! :)

Wow, that was like a Twilight Zone moment!

Regarding sand toys, another option for toddlers is to bring used plastic containers, such as yogurt cups, sour cream tubs, etc. We always bring yogurt cups filled with cereal for DS-3 to snack on when we go anywhere. When we got to CC, he played with the empty cups in the sand and water. They are great for scooping and dumping.

Thanks to all you responders. Your advice is very helpful. I had a good laugh at ohiominnies confusion...it is pretty ironic that dis4me and diz4me are on the same post, from the same state.

I too hope that the captain stays in the closet during our cruise too (LOL)!

Glad to hear that my 2 year old can have some fun with me in the club too, as she freaks out whenever we drop here 3yo sister at preschool. She doesn't like to be left out of all the fun! I have heard Flounder's Reef doesn't always do to the trick for the older toddler.

Any idea if they sell sand toys etc at Publix, as that is where Tiffany TC is making the stop for my transport to PC?

Thanks so much for all of your help!

Peg
