Toddler at the Water Parks

Having been to WDW quite a few times I'm a little ashamed to say that I have never been to any of the water parks. For my next trip I am thinking of having a water park day but having never been I don't know if it's worth it with a toddler. My daughter will be three. Are water parks something that can fill up a whole day? Are there a lot of things to do for toddlers? Lastly, if they are good for toddlers, is one better than the other?

We have only gone to TL. From what our friends have said, they've visited both, they think BB is more kid friendly. That being said, Errr maaa gersh!! our 18 month old and 3 year old (they are now 2.5 and 4) loved TLs kids area!!! LOVED it. It was so fun seeing them go down their little "rapids" slide on their tubes. They would have spent all day doing that. They loved the splash area as well. If BB has even more stuff for the littles than TL, I would go there if I were you. She will love it!

We only went to Aquatica with our toddler (but I assume all the parks have a kids area) and it was a highlight of our trip. Our toddler had a great time!

The water park kiddie areas are great for 3-year-olds! That said, my 3-year-old would be just as happy with the resort pool (especially if it also had a splash pad). I'd say if YOU want to do the rest of the waterpark while someone stays with the kid, it'd probably be worth it. Personally, I'd only plan on staying for half a day because my son would need a break, but every kid is different.

The Blizzard beach toddler area was amazing. I love that they have 2 kids areas there so the bigger kids are separate from the little kids . Typhoon lagoon wasn't as good for the more timid set, in my opinion.

I'm going to follow this. We are going in September with our 2YO DD, just in case we decide to opt for a water park day.

If you aren't sure that your little one likes water, a Disney waterpark is not the place to find out. Find splash pads, small pools, things like that around where you live a month or so before you travel. Kids have a knack for 'suddenly becoming afraid' of something they once loved.

We did both water parks a few years ago when our youngest were 11 months and 2.5 years old. They had a lot of fun, however, they would have had just as much fun at the resort pool/splash pad. We went to the water parks because our oldest (10 years old at the time) really wanted to go and the trip was partly to celebrate his birthday. I wouldn't spend a day at the water park just for my toddlers.

ETA: If I had to pick one, I think BB had the better toddler area. TL felt really crowded.

DS loved TL when he was 3 last year! It was his favorite park, enjoyed it even more than MK. We did BB a long time ago when DD was 4 and she had a blast as well, but I don't remember as much about it. Definitely make time for a water park if you can, they are awesome!
