Well, today's the day I have to make a decision. I have been procrastinating on deciding whether to switch my ressie from GF to CR wing room. The rate on the wing was so great that I wonder if it will be worth it to switch. We will only be there for two nights, and have to leave early in the morning after the second night. So is it worth the almost double rate to stay at the GF for such a short time?

From what I read about the CR, there is no place to sit and relax. I love to sit in the lobby of the GF and listen to the music. But, with the CR, the walk to MK might make it all worthwhile. The rate was under $100. Are there enough perks to the CR to make it worth missing out on my favorite resort?

I have to send my deposit overnight today.

There are several places you can sit and relax at the CR, if that is the only thing holding you back. We stayed in the wings at the CR years ago, and loved it!

The main lobby where you check in has lounge chairs, and a small bar/lounge, along with an arcade and 24 hour eating spot.
The next floor is for the convention rooms, but there are many chairs and sofas placed in quiet areas to just sit. And also the next floor, which has the shops and restaurants on it, has many places to sit down and take it all in, and some beautiful views too. Good luck on your decision. :):D:)

Thanks Cindala. I have only been in the CR on the monorail and to go to California Grill. I have no idea what else to expect from this resort.

I remember when we ate at the CR, I saw people standing on some baldony on the tower. Is there really a balcony, or did I have too much wine?

I love the leisurely feel of the GF, and I get a much faster paced feel at CR.

Well, I paid a deposit on both, just for a couple of days so I can have more time to research and decide.

While not as charming and ..what's the word?.. quaint I guess, as the lobby in the GF. I sat in the lounge just outside of CM's at CR and fed dd while dh took other dd "shopping" (waiting for dinner). It was VERY relaxing looking out the big windows over the water.

If you are saving that much money by staying at the CR but want the atmosphere, why not just take the monorail over to the GF to hang out?

Good idea ukcatfan...

I have been doing a search for reviews on other sites, and it seems that people either love or hate the CR. I have never seen such mixed reviews. The reviews for GF were mostly positive. The things that i think I will not like about CR were the things that made the CR haters hate it. Either way, I know we will enjoy ourselves. I love GF, and have wonderful memories of honeymoon vacation there. I would like to try something new though.

I'll sleep on it again.

I do not know if you plan on having any drinks or not, but from my experience the GF bar has the most expensive drinks around. The Outer Rim at the CR is not exactly cheap, but it is cheaper than the GF. I have never bought anything from the California Grill bar, but I would guess it is along the same lines as the GF in price.
