Jeeze I am SOOOOOOO frustrated!!


I just found out one of my online professors failed me JUST because he didn't wan't to be inconvienced by me sending him my final a day early!

Back Story: As you all know, I have been on vacation. I let ALL of my teachers know in early April that I would be gone and away from any computers for the first week of May when all our finals are due.

All my online teachers (except one ) saw it as what it was, not big deal, and they let me submit my finals Friday before I left.

My history profesor however was VERY unfair and said I could ONLY submit my finals from the 2nd - 4th. No early no later. This was VERY unreasonable since he already had the final up for us to see! (essay writting).

I tried my hardest to do it when I was supposed to be preoccupied with having a vacation. I went to the computer lab in our resort, but to my dismay the computers didn't have the word software he wanted it submited it in...


I couldn't contact my councelor until now because she was on vacation too. lol I just got through talking to her , and she agreed with me that it was totaly unfair of him. She told me to first see if I could resolve it with him first (yeah right...), and then if he continues being hard nosed contact her and she will submit a complaint to get my grade changed.


All I want is my paper to be graded fairly...

Online courses tend to do that.

I had a professor that had exams due on spring break, easter weekend and presidents weekend.

The professor had the test due during that time and she stated this is the date--not before and certainly not after. This professor stated it was for the students to learn how to follow directions. Of course, I am an adult non traditional student so I KNOW how to follow directions.

Honestly, you should have done it prior. Especially if you knew the topic and it was posted. (My online courses are timed one time only-suprise until you click on it type thing). I try to get all my exams done early. For next time, you can get it done earlier, and use something like Outlook to mail it out on a certain date/time if you are not going to have acess.

I've taken many online courses and tight testing deadlines were the norm within my classes.

Now you know for next time. You failed the whole course or just the exam?

More advice for next time...

Do it before and then just save the attachment in an unsent draft at a webmail account (like gmail or hotmail) then it's all ready to go when it's time to submit it. Even if the place doesn't have word or whatever is required, you can still copy down the file temporarily and submit it however you need to when the official time comes. You won't be editing it so you won't need the software to be installed in order to do that.

I sure hope you get it straightened out though!

I'm actually surprised you are surprised! The rules were stated and thats that. This is college correct? At our high school you can take several classes via e-school over the summer to free up a period for an AP course or elective. There is one Day you MUST go to a meeting and there is no other date, this date happened to fall when the honors French trip was going on and the kids were told go on the trip or go to the meeting you decide. So a bunch of kids will have to double up or postpone AP world history till they take this silly civics course,for a school sanctioned trip. Everyplace has rules.

The rules are the rules for everyone, not everyone except for you. He probably has his reasons for not accepting it early and he shouldn't be expected to change them just because you want to go on vacation.

That sucks. I guess you'll know for next time to save the email with the word document that way you can forward it to any computer. Did he even get your paper I'm confused you didn't say anywhere you actully sent it to him.

I agree with the others though he told you beforehand the rules after you told him you would be on vacation and you went against them thinking they didn't apply to you. I guess this is a learning experience a hard one though.

Hopefully you will get it fixed if not at least you'll be able to get an A in the class when you retake it. Next year don't schedule any trips in finals week.

Quick college story my brother who is still in college his professor gave the class a exam (counting for 50% of there grade) the friday before spring break started. Only 10% of the class was there to take it including my brother....the professor did tell the class there would be a surprise exam someday. I bet they didn't think it would be the day before spring break started.

My point is professors have rules you follow if not the consequences happen.
