Starbucks! :):eek::guilty::rolleyes:

I am trying to not go to Starbucks anymore this month! I am pretty sure I am addicted and the $4.50 three to four times a week is really adding up!

We finally beat the starbucks habit by buying a fully automatic espresso machine. Pour in beans, press button, out comes espresso. Has a steam wand for milk. Add some vanilla syrup and you have a vanilla latte. Starbucks sells the mocha they use for a mocha latte or hot coca. Hubby has been experimenting to get a good caramel. I love that our lattes are never too hot or burnt. The best part is that my vanilla lattes are only 100 calories. So I save there as well :)

The first week is the worst!

Once you make it over that hump, it gets much easier. But if you do slip up and have one...it's really hard to have just ONE (suddenly you find yourself driving by the next day, too).

Can you tell I've been there/done that?

Good luck!!

i allow myself 1 a week, makes it easier than cold turkey! good luck

$4.50!!?!?!

What kind of drink are you buying?? It must be a triple-something-or-other right?? :rotfl:

Sadly, Starbucks prices have gone up quite a bit in the last 6 months. :(

I know that when I get Starbucks (it's a couple times a month habit), I get a Venti Double Chocolate Chip Frap...and that thing is like 4.50 before tax.

Anywho. OP...good luck! I know you can do it...just think of the $13.50-$18 a week ($702-$936 a year :scared1:) you're saving, could be spending money or plane fare...or park tickets...or part of a hotel stay for a WDW trip. ;)

I work there and I amazed that I see people 2 and 3 times a day for the expensive drinks. I have one couple that orders 4 drinks every Saturday morning and the total is $32! I work there and I think it is expensive but luckily I get it for free. Good luck! I am quitting in 3 months and stock piling my coffee beans!

It might help if you wrote down how much you spent on coffee last month and start tracking if/when you do spend $ on it this month. Sometimes seeing it in writing is more powerful than just thinking about it :surfweb:

I'm on the no Starbucks wagon too!! I am trying to lose weight. My iced Venti Mocha's(non-fat, 4equal and no whip) were killing my pockets and they are about 300-350 in calories.
I started making coffee at home and I find I only drink a cup, maybe two. I also found Coffee Mate's Sweet Italian Cream(in the coolers) at Target and OMG delicious!! It's so sweet I don't have to add sugar to my coffee. So I am saving money and calories.

I have had to cut down A LOT too on Starbucks. I lost part of my income (tip money) and can no longer afford the daily lattes & mochas. I now go to a restaurant supply store and buy flavored syrups (< $4 for a full sized bottle) and just make fake-lattes with brewed coffee, warmed milk & flavored syrups.

My dh bought me a Tassimo machine for my starbucks habit! I love that machine it makes perfect lattes. I also bought the starbucks white chocolate sauce online, so now I can make my own Iced Venti white chocolate mocha at home.

Before my Tassimo I was spending 5.00 a day x 7days =35.00 a week x 4 weeks=140.00 a month x 1680.00 a year in starbucks alone!! So yeah my machine is saving me tons of money!!!!

I am trying to be more like DH who has no use for the fancy drinks and just orders plain coffee. I'm a tea drinker and I've cut way back on my chai lattes. I allow one as a treat once a month maybe and the rest of the time I order plain tea. It's way less expensive.

I gave up my habit about a year and a half ago. You will find with time it gets easier and eventually, you won't even crave it anymore. The drinks are so full of calories and are so unhealthy for you.

I didn't really understand a starbucks addiction until a group of 6 of us went down to San Fran for a week and the people I was with couldn't live without a coffee from starbucks in the morning. We were renting a house and made coffee every single morning, bought the cream and everything, and they still needed their fix. At the end of the week, we had only bought one starbucks, and they ended up spending over $100/couple on starbucks. I just shake my head....thats ridiculous to me! To think, I was once like that!

I make my own Starbucks. I buy the Pike Place blend in 5 lb. bags at $44.76 a pop. But that 5 lbs. makes 35 pots (35 days) of coffee at $1.28 per pot. Very reasonable... for Starbucks.

Get a Keurig! I know some people think its an expensive way to make coffee, but it is perfect for someone like you! You can still get yummy coffee (flavored how you like) but at less of a cost from Starbucks.

That is a great idea! Or you could even go so far as to put $4.50 into an envelope or jar each time you bypass Starbucks and, at the end of the month, actually add that money up and hold it in your hands. For me, having that cash is an eye opener. Then of course you could spend it on something you normally can't afford OR save it (for Disney? :rolleyes1)

I use this too! I love it, it's in my cup of coffee right now! I also love their Sugar and Spice that they had out for Christmas. Sadly, so did everyone else I guess. They still have a rack of the Gingerbread and Peppermint Mocha at our Walmart but the S&S one's are all gone....I'll have to wait until next year.

I used a Disney Vacation to quit my daily habit. :rolleyes1. It was the easiest way to deal with the pain of going cold turkey. I was using a card on auto refill, and one month of seeing multiple $50 Starbucks debits made me actualize I had a problem!

Get a good coffee maker. The first few months I replaced Starbucks with a Dunkin Donuts stop most mornings. But after I got my Keurig, I was in heaven. I rarely go out for coffee anymore!

The last time I went was on Christmas Eve. But I am having serious withdrawl! Its okay to treat yourself once in awhile. I think I might just start allowing myself one or two fraps per month, but no more! If you do that, it will probably make it easier.

OHHHHHH..I'm gonna have to find me some of that.

Thanks for the suggestion!
